Paintball is too cheap . . ?

If this is the person who I think it is, I agree with a comment made earlier about being completely driven by money.

I disagree with 'Ted DiBiase'. I think what needs to be done to improve the current status is to take a percentage of the profits made by punter sites and plow it back into the community/industry. It'll never happen but its a nice thought. We need stable leagues covering the span of the country, an effective training facility and an organised structure for both Recballers and Speedballers alike. Rather than lil' 14 year old Junior getting his hands on an ion and lighting up youtube with more led colours than BQ's christmas department after getting 15bps dryfire on ramping we need positive inlets into the game which show novice players how to do it right from the get go. Rather than entering a tournament a week that means diddley we should be at our respective training facilities getting better. These facilities could have teams that compete rather than 'bobs aligator shack factory team' founded by lil junior and each team represents the best of that community in various divisions. You wanna compete you train hard. National teams could be made up of the best of these teams and represent everything the UK scene has to offer.

As I said, it'll never happen but its a nice thought.

up the price!!! i am in total agreement, then the scrotes will be forever banished from the game......

i often wonder how much you young'uns spend on booze at the weekend before moaning about the cost of training?? and how much was your marker?? loader?your shiny mask?
those AGG (once appeared in a stand at a tourney that dynasty played at) trousers?
oh yes thats right, the super duper 15bps paint chucker must be the latest shiny one with all the inners ripped out and replaced, and the colours changed over because it costs loads of dosh and makes you a far superior player.........

yes kids that CCU kit you had to have would have had you another box of paint most likely. and the virtue board which replaced your stock one and made no difference, 2 boxes? and the all important 12 piece barrel kit, thats right the one you didn't use ten of the pieces from?? another couple of boxes?

trouble is and especially with ballers, for some reason everyone expects and almost demands discounts. now if you know someone who knows someone, great good for you, i will get discount on stuff if i can. however whoever looks after me gets ALL my orders in return.

i reckon up the price of paint and see better, more dedicated players emerge. because they will be the ones who REALLY want to play.
i agree with all the comments regarding dedication, but i still think upping the price would mean alot of the younger players couldnt afford it.
i buy stuff like the latest pads/guns etc when i have spare cash or get them or for xmas or birthday, but i always make sure i can afford to train first. The majority of the time i dont have this spare cash and can only afford to train, i couldnt afford to train if prices go up. Upping the price would prevent me and im sure many like me from playing.
Also are you trying to say that anyone who couldn't afford £60 a box 3 or 4 times a month + green fees is a scrote?

we're forgetting that UK prices are already the numerical equivalent cost to those in the US. I don't how much this is influenced by VAT / Import taxes and how much it's the sellers putting the price up, but my view is that prices seem pretty stable between retailers / manufacturers and sites.

Price in the UK is already at least a limiting factor in the sport's growth.
And i think those few with considerable sponsorship are already those who have earned it and show good results potential. The rest just say they're sponsored because it makes them feel good!

Personaly i think the paint prices are fine in the UK.

People saying about putting paint prices up to £50 - £60 a box need to think about it abit more.

As the saying goes "practice makes perfect". And at that price most of us would not able to afford a "suitable" amount of training paint, for a whole days training each weekend.

= teams cant progress

Rant...

Okay so your points about dedication are indeed vaild if the price of paint in the UK was bumped up say 15-20 quid then you'd be left with very few, very dedicated ballers, who would undoubtbly be the cream of UK paintball. (or at least those who are priviledged enough to afford it)

Only problem with this is they'd have to travel to europe and america to find a team to play! Is that what would make paintball a higher profile sport?
Not to mention the fact alot of people on here whinge about the lack of supair training facilities and their quality... increasing the cost of paint would decrease the amount of players thus decreasing the need for training sites, this would proberley lead to 2-3 in the country of decent quality and leave remaining players with a logistical nightmare.

So for arguments sake paint goes up, travel costs go up(due to distances to remaining training/torny facilities) and there are less teams to play against.
Not to mention what happens when the thinning out of players means less publicity and therefore less fresh blood in the sport! Less publicity will also mean less sponsorships. What you all gunna do when your the greatest paintballers in the UK and your 60!? Splash out for a hip replacement every month because you cant superman anymore and sit around talking about the old days.

(i may be wrong here) Has anyone ever thought that maybe the price of paint has decreased due to improved manufacturing methods and technology so the manufactures can still have the same profit margins but decrease the price? for example moblie phones and computers dirt cheap for the level of technology compared to 1-2 years ago? (just a afterthought)

I hope to god the fate of paintball in the UK is never decided by some of you as it will shrivel up and die

okay rant over

no you would be left with those who can afford it, being dedicated to paintball doesnt put money in your wallet. You could just be left with a bunch of knobs with fat paychecks (not saying that you're a knob if you earn good money, just making a point)

And Skeet, you talking utter, utter sh*te. 90% of ballers in this country should only be playing rec, you're kidding yourself your sportsman. WTF should companies sponsor you to rock up to Dartford or whether to play 55 mins of punter speedball a day, with the other 6 hrs spent purring over your shiny gun or white e-vents.
I'm sorry Stongle, but...could you tell me exactly where in my post, that I mentioned:

a) I or others like me, are Sportsmen?
b) I was sponsored by anyone?

In fact, if you can explain (hopefully with a little less Bile) exactly why that attack on me, was even remotely justified. I would be interested to hear it.

I was commenting on the post originally quoted...it may well have been you that wrote it, but I don't think for one minute, that it was quite as offensive as what you have just put, considering that you know about as much about me, as I know about you...ie. sod all.

If you can help me to understand why what I said is utter ****e, then maybe I can understand why you think so.

I will admit, that I do use the term "Tourny Ball", in place of SupAir..rightly or wrongly and I will also say, that 90% of the Ball that I play, is recreational of sorts, due to the fact that I do not play, in any regular Tournament Series at the moment.

Cheers.

one more point

"none of you are pro's who bring in punters"

There wont be any to bring in if everyone goes and finds another sport to get their adreniline pumping, wed all go have a crack at free running or some thing else cheaper.

"60pound box of paint anyone?"

"naa mate itll be more fun to throw myself off a wall"
