ok maybe I should just keep my mouth shut from now on....nah
Ok I didn't know what the X games so sorry for me ftalking rubbish and to be honest I can't see any reason the 3rd largest extreme sport in the world wouldn't be in an extreme sport competition. However, though we do want to move away from the "men running in the woods wearing camo pretending to be soldiers" image do we really want to become fixated on only becoming a recognised extreme sport? why don't we want to take it all the way into the mainstream, under ambition is the bane of humanity and never benefits anyone and paintballing has a large potential. Though it is not the largest extreme sport it is the most organized and not very far behind in amount of countries it is played in. The only two larger extreme sports are skateboarding and inline skating, but just think how many skaters or rollerbladers take part in competitions or are part of a governing body but then have a look at paintballing where probably more than 50% take part in competitions and are part of a governing body. Paintball has the ability to be taken further as it is high up the list of most populour sport and it has a structure that with a little adaption could compete witht that of recognised mainstream sports so don't limit our sport by nonexistent boundaries.
And also on the subject of the olympic games to be honest I don't think the fact that you are shooting at other humans is any problem just have a look at this list of olympic sports
Pentathlon:-shooting, fencing, swimming, show jumping, running (fencing is pretending to stab people with swords but doesn't come under fire from "it causes violence" banner and shooting though it does come under fire from the "anything with a trigger is bad campaigners" it is not enough to stop it being a sucessfull olympic sport.
judo (fighting same as fencing really)
fencing (see above)
shooting (again see above)
taekwondo- some kinda martial arts (so kinda the same as fencing again)
wrestling (am I starting to repeat myself? so kinda the same as fencing yet again)
so lets see that means 6 olympic sports that are similar to paintball can still be succesfull despite the same criticisms that plague paintballing yet they do not say oh well its fun to play we don't need to have it in the olympics. They say we have an amazing sport here that we are going to make sure gets the recognition it deserves and I think we should all do the same.
Though it is a long road with just a little perservence we can get there in the end . But thats just my cents (and if anyone is wondering why I have written an epic I'm revising for me english exams and got bored of doing the same old pass papers
