Whilst not wanting to piss on anyones bonfire here, do you not see the inherent flaw in signing the petition?

This is a petition for the local goverment in Tasmania. Are you guys local voters with a say in Tasmanian affairs? Signing the petition and not being an eligible voter brings into question the validity of the petition because the politicians this is intended for are there to carry out the wishes of the people in Tasmania. Not paintballers of the world.

Jordy, you would be better getting names from your neighbours etc.

Be careful when asking lots of people from everywhere to sign your petition. It can backfire on you. Good luck in your fight to have paintball legalised.

One of the reasons Aussie paintball has had such a hard time is that a crazy man shot 35 people in Tassie back in 1997.

The new guns laws that came out of this treated paintball markers as real firearms. this meant that you needed to have a gun licence to buy a paintball marker. They also banned the importation of semi auto markers into Australia which has only been relaxed recently.
Mil Sim markers are still illegal and paintball will always be small in Australia because of the tight controls.

Whilst Mario Raises a good point, at this current point in time the majority of signatures on the petition ARE from tasmanian voters,

We also need it as supporting evidence for statewide, national and international interest in Paintball in Tasmania, thus proving that it will encourage business within tourism as well as national sporting opportunities.

and thankyou all for your support.

PS. this Petition has already seen light in parliament, and we definitely plan on using it again.

As Chuckwood said:

"One of the reasons Aussie paintball has had such a hard time is that a crazy man shot 35 people in Tassie back in 1997."
This is true, Martin Bryant has scarred tasmania. As Chuckwood continued:

"The new guns laws that came out of this treated paintball markers as real firearms. this meant that you needed to have a gun licence to buy a paintball marker. They also banned the importation of semi auto markers into Australia which has only been relaxed recently.

This is true, however Milsim AND Paintball are completely illegal in Tasmania. Not just requiring a License, like the rest of Australia.

We're petitioning FOR a license!
We aren't allowed to own a marker, and may only participate in the sport if we travel to the 'mainland' as we refer to it.
