hhhmmm

Hi Tony,

Don't think we have met mate but heres my controversial 10p worth...

I thought we were all in the paintball industry trying to get away from the scenario where we call the paintball MARKERS paintball GUNS. I'll be honest mate I can see where you are going with the military style markers but to be honest I think this might tip the public perception of paintball again more towards the gun toting army wannabes which we are not. Now, I'm not saying this from a purely tournament side but from a looking at the big picture side. If you go ahead and make these replicas, which at the end of the day they will be then I fear we will have a harder job convincing joe public that paintball is not a war game.

Just my thoughts......

Hi Mate,

Thanks for your input, I know what you are saying but the thing is in the States it is a big thing where sites organise big bigs and as you are aware most punter sites do have the Military games and use it a lot not like us in tournaments.....As I am sure you have seen X-Fire on Channel 4 they do it ....

The last thing we want to do is give the General Public the wrong idea but this is aimed at the sites and REC-ball players.....

Thanks again for your input hope people dont take this the wrong way ...........
If most people think it is wrong we will not DO IT.....As paintball is the Sport we all love...But again it is Big in the states and it will only be a matter of time before it is over here so I would love to know what people think as well as site owners...

regards Tony

The problem is with military looking markers is that you start to cross over to the airsoft type games. Now that sport? is very controvertial over here (kids running round with real looking guns and attracting the wrong attention from the police) and may well be banned because of this. Paintball could well be tarred with the same brush if a clamp down on airsoft gund comes about. It would be even harder to stop this if we start using real looking guns too.

I agree with the critics....
I live near one of the most "army wannabe" fields in the US. (Hell Survivors of Pinckney Michigan)
I would rather people portray paintball as a sport seeing as that's the only way to further it's popularity......but then again, i can't remember the last newbie i met that got into it for tourney style play.......
The fact is that paintball is split into two societies right now, the army wannabes, and the tourney lovers. Niether has the right to look down on the other.....but as i am a member of the tourney lovers, i tend to frown on little kids running around shooting each other with replica M16s, but then again that's just my opinion...

Business will always take advantage of demand for products, why shouldn't they? Whether it's trendy fashion, replica guns, or cocaine it's all about supply and demand.....so i can understand both sides of the story.

Punters would love the idea.......but in this politically correct society i beleive it would be huge long term mistake for paintball, but i do see where you are coming from on the marketing side, but i don't think it will draw more people into playing because of what the markers look like.

Try a posting on www.pbnation.com and see what the yanks response is, if it's bad then you know your on a loser but if they like it then corner there market, go for it.

These are just my beliefs and do not represent anyone else.

Thanks for input

Thanks everyone for the interest and input in this matter....I totally agree with you all ..... Paintball should be shown as a sport like in the tourney side....Yet the amount of people who would rather play the " war" games is more for them as they dont intend to play paintball at our level or at a tourney.....

They want the war senerios as you all agree......" how many friends etc would like to play paintball but not the way we play"

But as I say I will keep looking at the responses and see what we get back..

Thanks again fellas

Regards Tony
