Right, i've decided to get him a brass eagle pump marker (i'm 14 and don't have a job so i'm not made of money) for his 7th birthday in october. in the mean time i'll keep drilling saftey into his head as long has he's intresed in paintball. i'll probably move him on in about 2-3 years when i get my new kit, as i've just started paintball myself. he can have all the paintball "hand me downs" ! does that sound alright?

Our little lad has fired my markers a few times, and played a few backyard games with those cheap plastic guns you get in toyshops.
A fair few sites have insurance for 11yr olds now.

Get a job, get him a secondhand ion or summit.

if you want to get him into talk to your parents but be warned starting off at that age could make or break him especially if he takes a particularily sore shot .

Gear wise i would just pick up a cheap semi off here ass the brass eagle pumps are gonna cost you and arm and a leg in 12grams a cheap semi a gravity fed and some co2 will be alright to start off with and if he sticks at it then look at getting him a pmr or sonsing

To be honest, just let him practice in the garden with your marker.

I don't see the point in buying a new (much worse) marker for him to just plink cans in the garden. Once he's old enough, and well versed in all things paintball then get him a good marker when he's old enough to use it at a site ;)

the problem is , that my parents want him to use a "safer" marker, at the moment. He'll be around 9 to 10 before he can use a standard semi, if that. its just my parents perception of danger i mean, they sometimes let him dry fire 1 or two shots on my pmr but thats it

Just explain to them that it's exactly the same power and going to hurt just as much etc etc.

Just seems silly in spending a lot of money on a marker for him when he can't properly use it, especially that your only 14 (money issues).
