Jeff - your suggestion says that all paint supplied at the CC should be sold through one combined paint booth run by the Millennium Series/organisers, at a price set by the Millennium, yes? That's how it reads anyway.
Lets look at the scenario of a typical decent level domestic team. Say that team A has a paint deal with Company X, where they usually shoot 10 boxes every month & therefore get £2 off the set price for a box plus 2 free. They may have saved up their free paint, and they may even have bought their paint in advance to bring along themselves (though with only limited parking per team this would be a pain) but they run out. They would then have to pay the full set event price for their paint, missing out on their loyalty discount. And if they then qualify for the Sunday Club their paint supplier may well give them extra free paint (I know this is quite common) for the semis & finals - would they then have to pay for this up front then get reimbursed by the paint company after they have got the money from the booth in turn?

The only way round this would be for the paint companies to give the organisers a list of which teams get what discounts or free allowances. This is hassle, and I don't see the MS manning a booth with complex pricing structures for different teams without having to charge for it, as the staff would cost them money. The paint companies could use their permanent staff, who may well be salaried, and it therefore wouldn't cost them anything in staffing.

Good point but as you say just provide a list for the teams that get supported.

As for manning a booth.....why not? They already spend time making sure that no-one smuggles in any paint that isnt an authorized brand.

No.;)

Why dont the Millennium fix a price for the paint bought at the events. All paint the same price.
I persume you would also require that the Paint be of all the same quality........why have different brands then?

The whole point is that there are varying qualities of Paint and if teams choose to shoot the best then they should expect to pay slightly more than the crappy brand that

bounces of steel posts from 3 feet away
All down to freedom of choice.;)

You know what, I quite like this idea. As Jeff says, it would stop people getting a raw deal and ENCOURAGE freedom of choice. If all are selling at the same price then companies would HAVE to sell on quality. Pretty boxes wont cut it, and cheap sh1t wont do either. It would help even poor teams pull themselves up a bit. You would most likely find that brand "X" would be preferred for DM5 etc and brand "Y" may be preferred by other guns etc.

Would also help organisers control paints that are going to leave them end up with a MASSIVE clean up bill for stained surfaces etc that certain paints will leave.

Interesting........

Why not also pick up your Millennium-supplied, tournament-approved guns from the Millennium booth each morning as well, and return it before leaving the site. No more cheaty-cheaty boards that way.

Sound good to anyone?
