PA Xball League 08

Russell Smith

The Paintball Association
Hi guys first of all thanks to everyone for your patience on me releasing all the info but we have been working very hard behind the scenes.

Perhaps the biggest news is the PA will be moving home to a site nearer to the Midlands to assist team travelling times, Our years at Ancaster was very happy and I would like to thank Sparky for all his assistance over the years and I am sure we will be paying another visit in the future.
The Midland site is not confirmed as yet but at least you all know the general area.

Event Dates.

We will be running Six events this season with Five of them to be held just before the next Millennium event and using the same field layouts so consequently the PA will become an asset to all teams who are also playing the Millennium Series.

The Proposed dates are;
March 23rd or 30th
May 18th
June 22nd
July 27th
August 24th or 31st
September 28th or October 5th

All dates will be confirmed when the Millennium Series confirm theirs.

Locked Divisions ?

Only Division One will be locked this season and will be made up of teams who are also playing the Millennium.
This division has only one unconfirmed place and will then become locked
All other divisions will become open and will be filled on a first come first served basis with teams able to compete whenever they wish with no requirement to play other legs.
We hope teams who would like to try out what is without doubt the best sup-air format to play can try it out for an event and judge for themselves how good it is without worrying about committing themselves for a full season.
Be warned, it is addictive ;)

Format

Well everyone will be aware that the PA runs Xball and this season I will be doing the same as PSP Div one with a few tweaks.
All teams will need at least eight players and my recommendation is you have two squads of six.
Last year teams played two games totalling 100 minutes and this season teams will be playing three games totalling 105 minutes with the games now including a race to seven and a change of ends every four games with two minutes between points.
Teams will also get a timed slot for their games and will again be given a morning or afternoon session.

Entry Fees

Last season the fees was £500 per team and this year we will be able to reduce that by at least fifty pounds but until all our costs are finalised I can not give you a final figure but as you can work out it will be good value for money.

Refs and gun rules

All fields will have a minimum of six experienced referees including a UK Ref Ultimate and all decisions (unless a clarification of the rules is required) will made on the field by the field ultimate.
The gun rules that will be in use this season will be as per the new Millennium ramp rule. -http://www.millennium-series.com/rules.php?rules=last_changes
If you use your gun in Semi Auto mode you must ensure the cap limit of twelve balls per second is not exceeded.
The new PSP mode will not be allowed.
I understand that some teams will not have the new software available and for the first event teams who are not in Div One will be able to use last years ramp modes, Div One teams will be playing the Millennium and should have the new modes installed.

Confirmed Teams

Birmingham Disruption - 07 Champions
London Nexus - Highest ranked UK Millennium Team.
Manchester So' Manc - last years runners up (as Methodology)
Dagenham Swarm - last seasons third place team who will do great this season in the Millennium.
British Bulldogs - a new team to the PA and also a new Div One MS team.
Jersey Warriors - better drinkers than players;) but can beat anyone on the day.
No Limit Bridgend - Richard and his Boyo's - win fast or lose cheap
Cannock Cobras - I think this team has more squads than any team I know.
Telford Bad Touch - I knew Rich couldn't stay away from paintball.
Wolves City Union - Highly experienced bunch and scared of no team.
Cynergy Academy - One of Mr Pellings teams in the South West.

There are a few teams who I have not spoke with to confirm there place but I will speak to them soon and add them to the list.

Any Questions! post away or call me on 07775 771064

I could run up to 4 divisions but I have decided that we will only run one other division for the first two events and then see how it pans out.

I will be amassing as much information as I can on paint consumption from all the teams so I will be able to let teams who have not yet played true Xball can be armed with as many facts as possible.

I will try and find last years figures and post them later.

Im slightly confused on the format. Last year i believe each match was 1 hour and consisted of 2 25min halves. This year will the 1 hour be split into thirds instead of 2 halves theresfore making each match consisting of 3 20mins sessions regardless of who makes it first to 7 points first????
Edit, onbiously there is the lsight discrpency in the extra 5 mins game time
Hope that makes sense

You are right in that last year teams played two other teams per day for a match time of 50 minutes (2 x 25 minute half's) with the game clock not stopping between points.
This season teams will play three other teams with a match time of 35 minutes per game with teams changing ends every four points and the clock also not stopping, and we will also introduce a "race to seven" meaning that if any team gets to seven points at that point the game will end.
When the time runs out any game in play will not stop until the point being played is over, so if a match starts with only one second remaining on the clock that match will be played in full.
