Just a wee point - does anyone else find that the large concrete blocks used to support the dead zone metal fences get in their way? They stick into the start box which is tiny enough and really annoy me when I'm trying to run off the break, having to consciously step over a block before fully breaking into a sprint isn't ideal.
Perhaps there's a better system for holding up the fences? :D

i too found it sort of in da way, but i have no problem with it as its the same on all the gates each side, just had to be sure not to look stupid falling over it ;)

im not a fan of the start bases for the sheer fact that you have to start so far back behind them. if your trying to run straight up the middle and its slippy (like it was sunday afternoon) its a nightmare.
i'm sure this was something that was commented on after the first leg anyway they could be changed?

It was (mostly) agreed apon that starting behind was better, so to sacrifice it for the sake of cost would be unjustified, IMO. If you think that starting infront is better that is a different debate.

I was thinking it couldn't cost that much to sink some more of the scafolding poles in to the ground and slot the bottom of the panels in to that rather than the blocks. Even one foot of scaffolding tube knocked in with a sledge hammer would do it. It could be flush with the ground removing any trip hazard. It would n't be much harder to do an even better job and have it set in a submerged block of concrete, with soil and turf on top.

As long as they plan to put the fences in exactly the same places every time that could work well. Wouldn't like to do a slide and get stabbed in the leg with a submerged scafold pole next year :)

How is starting behind better than in front?

The only thing I could see being a problem is frontys crying when the back guys shoot them quicker.

Start gates like the Super 7s plz.

imho it would be much beeter to start in front of the gates,

and whats with the 'you can stand behind part of this gate for 5 seconds'
1. im not really going to be counting upto 5 after game on (one or two more important things going on - like the break)
2. Its either a barricade or it isnt, not both.
3. I prefer to see where im going - call me weird or whatever, but i like to focus, and besides thats how the millenniums do it.

Except it's not their field, only rented from the college who might be a tad upset if someone goes around filling it up with concrete.
