Is it going to be the case of teams only being able to use paint bought at the tournament - on that day?

There was rumour of this - but I never heard anything else.

I think the idea was to stop 'bad paint' - but I can see the commercial advantages behind it as well.

I'm failing to see the relevance of this in direction relation to the thread (about X-ball)? Enlighten us...

Cantona, trust me good buddy, once you have tasted the fruit you would merge teams in a second to play it instead of normal 7 man.

I would gladly pay twice as much to play one game of x-ball per event than a whole morning of the current format.

We played 18 points in an hour game, nearly twice the game time of a normal format. I can understand for some it will seem like less 'fun' but for anyone who goes to events for nothing more than the competition then it really doesn't get much better. Most fun I have ever had playing paintball - and we lost the game we played! :)

Its not a matter of wanting to pay twice as much, some teams will simply not be able to afford the extra paint. Dont get me wrong, Xball is wicked fun, but I do feel it should be tested out on Div 1 squads first. Or have it as something the lower divs aspire to.

Maybe if there was 4 - 5 mins between points, then a smaller team would be able to get ready quicker?

tbh in Paris Div 1 EXL, we planned so much before the event, spare hoppers, large pit crew, spare guns etc, we had more time than we thought and could discuss game plans between points. Its not unfeasable to have a small team play, its all about the cost.

Small teams = feasable, loads of teams in div.

Merged teams = cheaper, only two divs.

I think you do see the relevance

The thread isn't about x-ball - it's about the PA and it's change of format (to something similar to x-ball I believe). Therefore, I was simply asking if this new format was going to be limited to paint bought on the day or not. Because, if the BYO stops - then I can also see quite a few teams pulling out over cost (it's already killed a few off - this season and last).

There - simple enough for you now?

The point was nobody has mentioned (apart from you) it being a case of having to buy your paint from the event. Therefore I couldn't see where you had drawn that conclusion from?

I have never seen or heard anyone PA affiliated even intimating that could possibly be the case. So, with the evidence as it stands (being only you who has heard this from somewhere unknown) I would think it a very strong possibility that teams, as ever, will be entirely free to choose whatever paint they choose as long as it is of tournament grade (e.g. not unsafe due to being dangerously hard).

raffles may not be as wrong as you think benny boy, i know its wanted by certain people within the PA. however its not a decision which has a) been talked about (officially, unofficially its been discussed over a few beers :)) or b) been made.
