They won't bend the rules, no way, no how.
We had the same situation, missed the deadline by six hours......... no chance, they are taking this very, very seriously

Its just a shame that none of the best teams in the country take it seriously.....actually, maybe that says something about the league....

Why do they have to be so anal and take it so seriously that people cannot play unless they register a week early?

And whats with the rulebook? Load of ****e some of those rules.

If you don't like it, don't play it. As for taking the rules seriously? why pay someone a playing fee if they don't take it seriously. Registering players so the refs know who they are? Bloody silly, treating paintball like a real sport.

And simply stating something is ****e isn't really much of an argument is it.

The one week registration thing is so players take the team they play for seriously and works with the registration rules, which means players can't swap backwards and forwards between games........... and it happens, at STB we a team in D and in E........... so did another squad, on watching our video of the event we spotted the same squad in both games............. hardly makes divisions worth the effort really does it.

Lots of rules I'm not keen on in the PA..... they've opened up a consultation about it now, so we get to state our problems, had a big meeting of team managers too, so they'll change stuff for next season.

Anyway, I don't know why I'm bothering, not be long until it becomes clear who's got an axe to grind and why and we can all go back to ignoring pointless flames. Or pointless Flame, whichever is first.

And how the hell can you speak for all of the top teams in the country?

Time will tell....simple as that.

If as one or two of you say the rule books sucks then this will become evident as time passes. Most of the top teams not playing? Well that's there choice, but I will say that they are top teams for a reason, they will keep a close eye on the league to see how it progresses (sp?) and will only join it if it works and works well, and time is the factor. Oh and for a little info, I think you will find a lot of players from top teams (maybe not the whole teams themselves) do actually take part in the league.

So to the doubtors (sp?) I say have your doubts, but just think with your head for a change and don't go off on a tangent, the MPANL has a goal, if this goal is not reached then post all the "I told you so's " as much as you like, but if it does sucseed (sp? again lol, it is early) then you must eat humble pie.

...because they're trying to promote a more profesional image to the world outside paintball. You know an organised sport, rather than aload of mates just turning up to av a knock around then go home.

To which do you refer? They all seem to be there for a reason to me.

Peace

I'm not going to get into a general discussion on the PA rules, but I feel I must comment on the one about registered players and formal transfers.

This mainly came about for a few reasons that I know of. Firstly, the bookies for the PA Cup last year felt they couldn't possibly take bets on an event unless there was some way of assessing form, which meant getting details on every player in each team with some idea of their standard and experience. If the team members changed then that would make the "form book" useless.
Secondly, sponsors like Motorola wouldn't be interested if there wasn't a formal system such as team rosters in place, making paintball look like a proper sport. Having the rosters also made it easier to define which teams belonged in which division for the first season

Also, players got sick and tired of turning up at an event playing Div 4 or 5 and finding people who had been winning division 1 the previous week "guesting" for their opposition. The transfer rules that are in place also deter bigger teams from poaching players mid-season that the smaller teams have invested a lot of time, energy and money bringing along.

There are plenty of tournaments around that allow players to virtually turn up on the day & get a game (where were you last Sunday when most of Shock were at Dartford Twizz?).
