Well, you could name him after his favorite food or drink which usually gives good results, or perhaps anything he does in his sleep. Those usually give interesting results, as can various incidents involving drunkeness. I've never met the guy in person so I obviously can't think of anything for you, but general observation should yield a nickname rather quickly and effectively.
