I went shopping yesterday in Bluewater and as I trawled my ass around I got accosted by some guy who shouted 'Oi mate, wanna play paintball'?

I looked round in surprise at someone shouting at me and just smiled; he was standing in front of some sorta Paintball promitions booth and he then went on to assure me, 'Mate, it's a great game, you gotta try it, we can offer it to you at £6 per 100 balls blah, blah, blah.....'

'I'll have to try that sometime' I replied
Dude, exact same thing happened to my son and I in Merry Hill.

He told me how he'd payed £1400 for his Angel A4 and that he could shoot 35bps:eek:

I was looking at organising a reccy day for the lads at work last week. One of the office losers is stood behind me while I compared site prices.
He says "you need at least 20 for a good day. Don't go to X site, it's crap. I've been loads. Would enjoy whooping your ass".
So after going on for 10 minutes I pointed out the picture of the Nerve and Shocker spread over my dual-monitor desktop. He says "Yeah, so what are they?"
I may look forward to the reccy day after all :D

Best thing is bartering with them. I always listen to them as its usually kinda funny, but when they ask you if you are intersted tell them that you play a lot and have a special deal with the other site you go to.

Then tell them that you usually pay £X a box after they have offered you the whole £6 for 100, look out for the jaw dropping to the ground.

(I do need to get my kicks some how thats not illegal)

Well - did you give it a try? :p

Anyway, I find it interesting that you all expect some 'cheap sales labour' person to know all about tourney ball .

Not everyone has heard of Planet outside of the paintball family - ask your neighbour...

If these 'sales people' bring more people in to paintball (by whatever means) then surely it's all good.

Maybe tourney players should try some aggressive advertising - then we would eventually see the end of all the 'no new players' type threads.

very true to a point Andy.....but its kinda like asking Peter Shilton if hes ever played beat the goalie.
the blissful ignorance makes it an amusing situation.

very true also they do get people to play paintball so i guess they arnt hurting anything, its the complete lack of knowledge that again makes it amusing....kinda like if i was to go and try and sell memberships to a golf club...i wouldnt know a birdie from a 6 iron and could quite easily end up trying to sell to someone who knows far more about golf than me who would end up walking away giggling under his breath wearing a ping sweater which i would have no idea was related to golf.

That's really my point Matt - Robbo is not as famous (or infamous) as Peter Shilton. No-one involved with paintball is really 'famous'.

Yes - Pete is very famous to us lot of course - but I bet nearly every rec-baller (who doesn't come on here) hasn't heard of him either.

Granted - it is quite funny (to us) when we get asked if we've ever played paintball - but how are they to know?

And back on the Peter Shilton tack - if my missus was selling 'beat the goalie' tickets - she'd have no idea who he was/is either.

That will be those lovely jokers from 'ministry of paintball' then, told me I could use my own gun on any site without a clue as to what I had...

They rave on about all their sites around the UK but they are only booking agents who tend to hire 'overseas' individuals for PR work and then send people to sites often with false deals...
