OK not sure if this is the right forum(plz feel free to move it) can neone help me out a bit basiccally i want to know how much it would be to order in from the states on top of the price of ur gun and ur shipping? What r the best couriers to use (best prefferable being the ones that MINIMISE additional charges)?
and was also wondering if u could give me some feed back of what uv ordered from there and how much it has been on top of the shipping and the gun?............:(

Why don't you ask some of American companies to quote you on what you want?

If you go for cheap shipping, it'll probably take ages and you won't be able to track it if it goes missing.

I ordered a squeege of US Ebay (because i was REALLY bored). It still worked out cheaper than buying one here (including the postage):) :) :)

you will find that generally the shipping offered by most companies is the same. What will hit you is the custom charges and VAT once it hits the UK shores.

you will need to add 17.5% for VAT, Then around 8% for import duty(basically customs charging you for charging you!!).

A lot depends upon customs i have ordered before and they have not charged me and other times they have. It helps if there is no invoices in the package (get them to post it seperate) and ship the items as a gift or samples.

when you add all the extra charges up and the sellers overheads this is why most items are $ for £

If you run a search for Importing you will find that Benfrain did an exercise recently on importing from the US and his results basically said, dont bother unless you are getting a real bargain.

I've done it before and the hassle and extra costs just make it not really worth while!

Hmmm all depends on whether your marker gets through customs without them putting the import duty on it!

as far as i am aware gifts, warrenty parts or warrenty repairs are not subject to Import duty as that has already been paid!

So all depends if you can find a store willing to mark it warranty parts and not put the invoice on or in the box

but then i have no clue

Ok, I've been looking to get a PPS Blazer, and found one 2nd hand on the AO forums. So, I call up HMCE to ask about the duties on 2nd hand gear, which apparently still applies :( I'd be looking at an extra 20-22% or so, which is not really my idea of a cup of tea.

Now, if it gets sent as a gift, I can avoid duty...but it has to be of a value lower than £36, which is the pickle because it means that the insurance on a £400 gun would barely cover getting a new barrel. What would you folk recommend?
