But they are not the only woodland league... as posted previously there is the UKWM and Warped put on events too.

Does a name really make it a better league?

Id also question the term "successful" - as that is yet to be determined
I am fully aware of UKWM and Warped. Played and won the middle division last year at Warped's 10man and planning to enter the UKWM, unfortunately it's way way south for many of my team's players. I would like to see a UWL league in the midlands and north(ish) end of the country.

UWL is not just a name, it's a format and a style of play that is able to mix modern tourney ball with running around in the forest.

Lots of teams have played and enjoyed SL's UWL, I visited an event and spectated a while ago and was pleased by most of what I saw. I have seen nothing negative to indicate it has not been one of SL's few genuine successes.

I understand that travel can play a major factor but to play decent events sometimes you do need to travel. CPPS and the Warped 10 man dictated this for me living on the south coast.

The Warped 10 man had a similar format to UWL, with multiple "flags" games can be over as quickly as a UWL game.

And yes they were successfully run UWL's I don't deny that but due to the antics which have gone on could this cause an issue?

I think points such as travel and woodland format could make for an interesting discussion but that's for another thread ;)

The one reason why the uwl worked was it was held at different venues so travel didn't always become an issue on number of teams attending as local teams would jump on board at different events

I've done all I'm prepared to do but it looks like Tommy doesn't give a sh!t about the players who supported him last year.
Both myself and Gino have spoken to him on multiple occasions in an effort to get his finger out his ass but I'm afraid we can only do so much and if he can't even bother to spend two minutes letting people know what he's doing or intending then it's self-evident he has no respect to the players.

What makes matters worse is that barnett will benefit from Tommy's lack of interest and respect and this in itself is a sickening consequence.

I think both of these woodland leagues will be excellent and just what the UK needs, especially with the people involved in them being stand up guys.

Many moons ago up north we had a small site running what it called the Ionman series (think it was around 2006), speedball games in a woodland setting, was great fun (bar me causing some damage to myself getting rather carried away)

As the series developed the organiser, who sadly is no longer involved in paintball, tied in the woodland events with a local supair site so that one event was woods based and the next supair, this worked fantastically well and was a very good transition for both groups of players. This is something we majorly miss in the cold reaches beyond the wall, as everything is Midlands or lower nowadays.

Nick did an awesome 'Simply The Best' event at Skirmish Sherwood Forest last year with mixed formats. Games throughout the day were played on sup'air, woodland and Hyperball. Was a really good event, hope he does it again.
