This may have been done before, but i just wanted to get your opinions on it

What are your opinions, are closed bolt more accurate than open, who uses which and why, are there any advantages of one over the other?

closed bolt is not any more accurate than open bolt its just that when the closed bolt loads a paintball the bolt comes forward and is at rest ready to fire

the only markers i know of that are closed bolt is autocockers(official and custom) and im not sure but i think older impulses(pre 2k5)?

my opinion is that accuracy is all about consistancy and a good paint to barrel match

I got an 05 Ego, open bolt the only major different and I think advantage is that if a ball does brake just whip the bolt out, run a squeegie/fluffy through and your done and ready to play(once you have put your bolt back in obviously):p
But you can sometimes get alot of kick.
Martin.

closed bolt doesnt mean u can see the bolt it means that the bolt is constanly in a forward position, as opposed to pen bolt where the bolt stays back, from what ive heard, closed bolt is more accurate than open, no idea why from what i know cockers egos and timmys are closed bolt ?

Closed bolt guns include:

All pump guns.
Cockers and variants.
The old Shoebox shockers.
EDIT - The AKA Ecalibur cheers Rabies.
EDIT2 - The highly underrated Evil Omen, thanks Robof9.

Guns incorrectly mentioned in this thread as closed bolt are:
Ego
Ion
Shocker
Impulse
DM
Timmy

All of these are open bolt.
As is practicly every modern paintball gun.

Both systems for chambering the paintball are equally accurate.
If you dont match your paint to your barrel then the closed bolt gun will be less accurate as the paint is allowed to roll some way into the barrel before it is fired.
