Community? Yes absolutely - until it went too far and every thread was jacked and turned into a private chat. And despite our utmost efforts through cajoling, pleading and warning, it didn't stop.

Don't worry 'bout it, it'll all slide back into place once tha dust settles.

And don't think it was just Brits who got their posts deleted or were banned...It wasn't so much tha board was getting UK-Centric, it was just getting idiot-centric for a while.

I agree to an extent with Hotpoint, having a talk bollox forum would be good for the boards. I always though Speak your Brains was for that, but I guess I was wrong?!?!?! I understand your standpoint of not wanting rubbish posted on the boards, but keeping it within the specified forum, I feel, would be good for the boards. You don't want to lose people because they feel they can't post on certain topics. Or rather, they have no place to post them, therefore they go elsewhere.

Are the powers that be trying to cull the userbase, getting rid of what they class as the chaff, and leaving the wheat to post away. There won't be many left if that is the case!!


I'm not trying to start an argument, just curious as to where the forum is heading......

Brief summation.

1. A few people turned a lot of threads into private chats and too many nonsense posts and topics turned up. Mods began deleting posts and asking users to abide by certain guidelines.

2. Some users started a thread announcing they were leaving cos we were all uber-nazis, they left, we banned em.

3. Despite protestations, several of tha banned members keep rejoining under different names - why I don't know, since they announced they were leaving cos they didn't like it here anymore.

4. Speak your Brains threads like 'what music do you listen to' etc., which are applicable to all posters, are generally left alone as long as they remain tha minority rather than tha majority - this is, after all, a pball site. What we objected to was tha dozens of chats and threadjacks by certain people that were dominanting tha board.

I see what you mean now then. I was always curious about why some threads in SYB were left, but others weren't.


To be honest I can see your point in a lot of ways. Duffy will know how the RTG boards are at the moment. Full of mindless posts and Mags spoiling it. If it gets like that, then the boards are ruined. If you clamp down softly, then things may improve by themselves.

Don't be silly. You're still here which plainly demonstrates to all the benificence of the gnomes and the fact the essential rule hasn't really changed all that much.
What you can expect is the same tolerance for the occasional flight of fancy, interesting or entertaining threadjack and some general goofiness but zero tolerance for clique-ish private chatter and/or repeated postings that have nothing to do with anything except the poster's boredom level. And since all the mods are now clear there should really be very little problem.
