Basically, all I want to know is, what constitutes a 'Gold Thread'??

Things like the barrel bore size threads are pretty obvious, as they get asked time and again, but I'm just curious, in how it's decided why they go there.

My question is because of the 'Playing the snake' thread. It turned into what amounts to my team discussing what went wrong with a game we played????? Personally can't understand why it is in there, it went pretty Off Topic???

Any insights???

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I couldn't decide where it should go.

Along a similar theme of why certain threads are deemed worthy of the Gold Forum, P8 is now operating under a stricter regime that prohibits O/T threadjackings but a large chunk of at least one of the Gold threads is a major slice of threadjack

In this case it was one of my O/T arguments with Baca that appear at random times

Is not the fact that a heavily jacked thread is considered "Gold" Standard indicative that the new-order may be too harsh and throwing out the baby with the bathwater?

Any thoughts?

Nope, it means there was enough meat in tha thread to warrant gold status despite tha threadjacking...

If this is true then surely even major-threadjackings are not a serious issue in that they cannot override or distract from quality material?

It should be noted I am not against the new-order on principle, as things did get messy sometimes, but do feel that Baca's idea of a "Mindless Blather" sub-forum to SYB should have been introduced which could act as a sinkhole for drastically O/T threads

I did not comment earlier as I wanted to see what would happen. For the most part the Forums do seem a lot more sterile than before, they are still great but I stand by the baby/bathwater hypothesis

Your perogative, but - and I am sooooooo tired of repeating it - it was all down to certain people taking tha piss and us getting up in tha mornings and finding that a lot of threads had been reduced to mindless blather by a handful of people. It just got beyond a joke and was undermining the entire point of tha forums and tarnishing tha site as a whole.

We always, always said self-moderation was key but some people just didn't police themselves so we cracked down. Things will find their natural equilibrium again soon - and of course it's quiet here, it's Xmas, lots of people are away from their pcs and there ain't a whole load of tournaments taking place.

We don't want a mindless blather area here, there are plenty of other places where you can go for that.

Hey I know why you did it TJ I'm not disputing your reasons for change just questioning the implementation

Yes there are plenty of other places to go but don't you feel it added to a sense of community here? I know there was a definite uk-centricism which was possibly injurious to the goal of a true international board but will that fade now or will it be both Brit-dominated and sterile?

Not trying to annoy you P8 types or seeking to go over old ground just thought I'd drop my €0.02 in

Feel free to ignore me. Most do :p
