Thats the way the story went anyway...could be bull poo...maybe not...
These things happen..i mean....22 LR bullet, not too heavy...effective range is about 200 yrds, in ideal conditions...however...a man shooting bunnies took a shot on th ebrow of a hill and misses...he walks off tries again..in the meantime that .22 bullet is travelling a mile...it goes through an aperture 9 inches square in the side of a stable...a girl is grooming her horse..bullet hits her in the temple...dead.
On tv...mum in the house watchong her kid (in the states) little boy, on a trike on the front garden....he falls off....she trots out to pick him up...has blood all over him and a hole in the top of his head...they live in the foothills of a mountain range..hunter misses...bullet has to land somewhere...
.22 bullet is still lethal at a mile...a 7.62 (.308) bullet is still lethal at between 5 and 7 miles.
These things happen flks...its just one of those things..tho, given the choice, its better a racist and biggot than a little kid.

I read somewhere that some university took a gun and fired 100 rounds straight upward, only 10 or so landed within 15 feet of where the gun was fired. For what it's worth, those were some pretty steep odds of that bullet hitting the guy. Too bad it wasn't lethal.
