I don't know about there, but here there wouldn't be much the police could do. Oh yeah, we could make the report and end up with an arrest for agg assault due to the severity of the injury, but it would be a non-starter in the DA's office. Unless there is more to the story than the initial post, what you have is mutual combat willingly engaged in by both participants and Piper lost. Yes he was severely injured, but that is what happens when adults fight in the real world. If you build the tracks and tie yourself to them, you don't have a real complaint when a train runs you over. It boils down to who swung first and whether either had opportunity to retreat. I worked a case last year in which a thug went to a guys house with a bat to collect fifty dollars. He ends up breaking the guys arm. In court he claimed the fellow had threatened him with a knife and it was self-defense. The jury bought that, dumb as it sounds, and the fellow was declared innocent. Results like that are one of the reasons DA's hate to go to bat and waste time and effort for people who just make victim status by being the better of two chumps. How will it work there?

Ok guys just to let you know whats happening at this end of things.

The old bill have just popped into the shop and are talking to andy (yankie) in the office to get his accounts of the events of yesterday, this kinda tells me its not just a case of bruised ego with piper and some real damage was done :( - hopefully duffy will have more info soon.

Will try get more outta andy when the old bill leave :(

From speaking to Jamie B it's a rupture - Jay didn't say anything about the police or making a complaint though, so dunno how that's come about:confused:

Looks like he is going to need surgery to repair the rupture though...

I dont know Mr Piper, but i would like to wish him a speedy recovery.
This sounds very serious, i would also like to point out to some people that there is a time and a place for 'humour' and this isnt it!
I wouldnt wish that sort of injury even on my worst enemy. Have a bit of sympathy, or if u cant do that, and your a man, use a little imagination.

ps. theres a reason its called a 'low' shot, 'cos its a fcukin attack used by scum. there is no need even in a fight.

thats just my opinion anyway.

Seriously, can the mods delete the whole thread? some of the comments were obviously made in jest, but now that this is obviously serious.........how about removing it? I bet there's a few posters regretting their comments. (and can't delete them as they've been quoted).
And get well soon.
