Dale, isnt the olympics in 2012 not 2016 ? BTW i may have heard some about 2018 !?!?!? but as u say i could be hoping / dreaming
Joe think about it... isn't the olympics in 2012 and 2016, and 2018 would be the winter games and even so it was it would be pointless.

Paintball hasn't sorted itself out as a sport yet. Let alone one that is glorified and profesional enough to be an olympic sport.

Cheers
- Tim :)

It might be the bottle of wine and the half bottle of red, but I've lost the plot with this thread. The reality of the situation is I think existing teams would make the grade based upon some kind of world seeding that could enable teams from the same country to be in the competition. Look at the BMX where it seems there are multiple peeps from countries where BMX is strong?

But for there to be a world ranking list that would mean some organisation and structure to the world paintball tourney scene and I won't bore myself with that one.

Team marker. Who cares? Depends who the team support / sponsors are...

(I'll check this post in the morning and if it a load of drunken ramble I'll delete it)

Oh, and get rid of the kids with the alchopops tonite....

BMX racing is a very good example to use, as a sport it has been around probably twice as long as tournament paintball, if not slightly longer, but try to remember that cycling, and racing on bikes is still a very mainstream thing to do, therefore BMX racing had an advantage from the start compared to other "extreme" sports, in that it may be considered more acceptable as a sport compared to say paintball because people can relate to it and the format as it is very similar to other cycle racing sports, there is a race, there is a winner, the fastest person wins, simple right ?
They also have an organised World series/competition structure/whatever you want to call it, they had/have big name sponsors FROM OUTSIDE THE INDUSTRY involved for a while before they were even considered for the olympics, they had regular TV coverage, before they were even considered for the olympics. All of these advantages over paintball and it still took around 3-4 years of campaigning, meetings, promotion, presentations before BMX racing made it into the olympics. A more realistic short-term goal would be to make it into the X-games, attract big name sponsors outside of the industry, and get big name tournaments and organisations to sit down and communicate with each other to further the sport.
