angels are good, reliable, easy to maintain guns. If you want a mowing machine get a third party board put in it (the spitfire board for example has the eyes you are looking for).

It always makes me think of that advert that said "If you wanted to know what football team to support, you wouldn't ask a football team manager"

John C rocks and Tom Allen does as well. They have forgotten more than most people ever learn about gun maintenance. They would prob also be the first to admit they aren't impartial.

I'm not either and neither is Pinki. I don't know a paintballer who is, and I think I'd only suggest being much more interetsed in upping your playing skills than worrying about what gat you're shooting.

Ion's are simple to strip and piss-easy to maintain. You can diagnose EVERY problem because there are so few parts to go wrong. We've shot them as a team for a season and we've had almost nothing go wrong, and the previous season shooting ir3's was expensive and problematic.

I'm very pro-ion, and I know lots about them, like Pinki and unlike lots. They're great, as are many other guns. Get what you like, but don't let other people talk them down. Ions rock, with downsides, old Angels rock (with downsides, hence I moved from an iR3 to the Ion platform) with downsides, most gats rock with downsides...

Normally, John C and I now have a big spat about spool valves and LPRs - gonna kick off this shjtznatz, JC? :)

I can consider myself fairly impartial, as I've owned and/or lovingly maintained and modded (for myself, friends and team members) all of these markers in my time at one point: Brass Eagle Tigershark pump, Tippmann Pro/Lite, Tippmann Pro/Carbine, Tippmann & Pro Team Products M98 FX, 2k1 right feed WGP autococker, 2k2 centerfeed WGP autococker, Warped Sportz Dark Angel LCD, B2k Bushmaster, Warped Sportz Dark 'Cocker, Warped Sportz Rock IR3, Master Tech Force 4, Angel Speed '04, GZ timmy, Gen-E Matrix, '03 Matrix and uncountable Spyders and spyder clones, and all manor of generic mechanical and electro blowbacks. Long story short, I've shot a lot of markers, and I know my shizzle. Here's the only good piece of advice anyone will ever give you: Try a lot of markers and see which one you like. Because the bottom line is this: Every marker chrono'd to 300 fps will shoot the same paintballs the same distance and eliminate oponents. I'm an Angel fan. I'm not a mindless fanboy like a lot of people, my opinion is based on my experience with them versus the tons of other great markers I've shot and owned. As far as I'm concerned, they are completely unparalleled in the industry for build and design quality. But if you pick one up and it doesn't feel right, or it doesn't shoot the way you want it to, then it's ****. Same with any other brand or type of marker. So the only way to find out which one fits you and your game and your style of play is to play with a shedload of 'em. Go to any field and ask the "cool guys" with the good guns (they're easy to find, they're the one's who think they're pretty damn cool and badass mofos) if you can shoot a pod or two through their marker. They'll be happy to oblige, especially if you approach them in a manner that strokes their ego. Try a Matrix, an Angel, a Shocker, an Ion, an Ego, an Intimidator, a Cyborg, any high end gun you can find, and make the decision based on what you like best and what fits into the parameters of your budget. No matter what marker you buy, you will have other marker's fanboys putting you down for owning it, or telling you all the reasons why you should have bought X versus Y, so go out on your own and independently decide what you like and don't feel any remorse or shame about your gun as long as you feel like it's the right one for you.

budgie, I'm mystified!?

As you know we played HGII in TORRENTIAL rain when other teams were gaffer-taping their egos, etc, or even dropping out, and we didn't have a single issue. I have literally immersed my Ion in the Ion and it's bombproof

Have to disagree with you there buddy, but maybe we've just been lucky?

Thanks,

i'm currently in exactly the same position, not sure about either spending £150 (minimum) on an e2 frame (and then more upgrades like reg, ram, internals etc) because selling the cocker would lose money on what i bought it for, or just buying a nice angel 04 speed off the classifieds for £220. At the moment im swinging towards the angel but I do like the look of my cocker and the only angel i ever shot was a little bulky for me (with the angel air at least). I considered buying an ion because of their weight and price but reliability is a large factor and i hear 50/50 on the ion for and against. I guess i could also do with some advice.

old angels are pretty good though. they don't have eyes though some have sensi which isn't as efficient as eyes but it's still something.

then listen to dr strangelove's advice, and try 'em and see what speaks to your fingers. If Ion's don't suit you, no sweat, but the reliability thing is bull**** - like I said, we've been running them all season with WAY less probs than we used to have

1. Only if you are hoping to play for a sponsored team should you buy a specific marker
2. Don't avoid a marker because everyone has got one
3. Conversely, don't buy a marker because everyone else has got one.
4. Try and Buy the best marker you can afford, always the best option.
