A bit after the fact but congrats on getting the website up.
With geographically disparate teams (and far flung team members) getting details up on a website is the best way of spreading the news.
To that end here's a few suggestions:
Not everyone worships at the altar of the great god William Gates, Esq. Not every browser supports Flash (scary but true!) Enough people are on alternatives that they need to be considered when building a site
Go easy on Flash on the home page as it can bulk up the download time - those not lucky enough to have rich(er) girlfiends to get broadband for them (you know who you are!) and have to rely on the equivalent of a piece of soggy string are going to be struggling. Or they are going to spend time waiting only to be faced with a message requiring them to download Flash/get a better computer/stop using Mozilla d*mmit
The same goes for animated gifs and background images - the M25 logo is distinctive - it doesn't need to be repeated as a background and will slow things down
I'm not suggesting heading into bland corporate mediocrity here in terms of layout and style but some consistency of font and font size makes life easier for the harrassed 'baller out there trying to get to the pertinent details in a hurry. Italics are generally hard to read on screen and people will skip them - not good if you're trying to highlight nice things people have said about you
Perhaps in time for next season there can be one site for the M25 league (if there is one already please send URL and I will happily place my foot in my mouth - it's one of the advanced yoga positions. Honest)
Navigation covering:
1. what the league is/does (for those who have been in Ulan Bator where paintball has yet to take off)
2. Some details for each leg, confirmed dates/locations posted a few weeks before hand so impoverished ones can sort out their cheaper transport.
3. Clear getting there instructions for each site as well as a link to steetmap/multimap etc
4. Have a separate sponsorship page that allows each sponsor logo to be displayed clearly and allows for distinctions - ie a sponsor may only sponsor one particular site, rather than the event - and links to the sponsors website. Always appreciated by the sponsor, especially if they get business because of it
5. Tasteful images that add to total not distract.
The last bit was a bit Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen but needed to be said...
A fun site thats easy to navigate makes happy users all round - it doesn't need to be Jakob Nielsen dull to be user friendly and accessible.
