What's everyone's plans over the winter? do you take the time completely away from PB or are you cashing in on less events to play more locally?

For us, We had our end of season jolly last weekend... Spent the Saturday out for a big team meal and then a few drinks. Sunday was a little in house 3 man event which was a nice way to round out the year.

December will be time off to do all of the social things around Christmas, and then working back into things in January to start the wind up for CPPS next year.

A few of us will be continuing to do the online zoom practice mid week to keep the rust off.

How about everyone else? Big Christmas walk-ons? complete time off?
What's going on?

A great topic! Which I'd be interested to see put to Facebook as you'd probably be 50+ replies by now, unfortunately.

Mid week zoom practice? Tell us more about that!!

I've had a great first 8 months in paintball, and generally looking forward to the next X amount of years. Having been a mainly fun / walk on player so far, I've sat next to the phone for a few weeks but it seems the 15's have finalised their roster and Attrition have done a lot of recruiting, so I'll probably continue as previous.

Unless Rushers are short of a player for their US trip, of course

I'm pleased to have got a tournament under my belt after only 3 walk ons and thanks to the Hawks for having me guest for the day. Also to you @ant290 for the team pic!

Had a great weekend up in Yarm last weekend playing BZ Grizzlies and have been really welcomed into team OAPB. A great bunch who are always happy to help, guide and advise

In terms of picking up the tourney scene again, it's only a matter of time before @James ECI reaches out for a signature on the All Stars squad, but until then I'll be available for consultation in the NXL paddock. Payment accepted in USD / EUR / JPY / BTC / ETH / XRP...

https://www.instagram.com/denrteam/ we catch up with him pretty much every week, It's a lot of what you should be doing in your down time anyway... but let's be honest, it's easier to have someone tell you once a week than it is to do it by yourself!

Looks like team green have picked up a huge range of players... I haven't seen anything about who is leaving the squad?? how big is too big? I really think we will miss some of those players in lower divisions or even just in other teams where they may get spins as starting 5 rather than becoming a part of the green machine and watching their brothers get plenty of spins elsewhere (looking at the wakefield brothers as a prime example)

Don't get me wrong.. I love that the 15's exist as a pinnacle / goal for players to arrive at.. I just don't know what they will do with all the players they have.

I'll be back at UKWM for most / all of next season doing photos again. Me and James go back a long time in paintball (and he's shot me a lot more than I've shot him I'm sure )

Are you planning on playing any Xmas walk ons?

I beleive Luckies have lost some players to real life so are filling those gaps. Until i was told otherwise, id assumed they were looking at a 3rd team.

And yes having that upper team to aspire to is great - but as a community, the past 2 decades has seen peaks and troughs to accomodate those without those aspirations.

Some of us just want a decent day/weekend out with our mates. Itll be interesting to see what happens with NXL Europe in 2022.

I think there is something most weekends in december.

5th - Driver wood / Mayhem mech
12th - Mayhem normal
19th - Campaign

can i get to them all?

I'll be playing the Mayhem Xmas walk on and taking a few newbies along as well (once they all send the money:eek:)

Happy to say James will be as well. This is great as despite talking loads, teching markers round his house and sharing a nice old cuppa rosie lee, we've only played one day at the same time and that was my very first walk on, when I wasn't really communicating and just did my own thing, feeling myself in.
I'm looking forward to picking up some tips and seeing what I can learn.

You shouldn't worry about the fact he's shot you more than you him, we all know he single handedly finances the GI team Xmas party and so he's probably used 5 boxes for every time you've one balled him :ROFLMAO:

@ant290 This might not be the correct place but seeing as we're already on the topic (ish) what's your thoughts on the NXL moves? More specifically looking at Archie Mont heading to Dynasty?

In my short paintball career I've picked up Dynasty are the legends. But, it's never good to have all the big names on the one team. We need competition. Hence, I've liked the fact that Montemayor & Rainey (just 2 'big' names I've learned of) played on a bit of an underdog team with XFactor (?).

Add to that, Tyler Harmon shocking the world with his move and I had a lot of different things to look out for.

On a side note, I hadn't realised until his brilliant BananaBus just how high a level Jamie Beadle plays . Is it going to be this / following season he's out with TMG Outlaws? And is that usually covered by GoSports or a subscription? I do like to get behind the home name where possible.

Dynasty are legends, but they arent (by a long way) the only legends. There are many top teams, and many top players. Arguably any Pro player is elite level, but individuals dont = win, playing as a team is the key. A player like Archie will obviously positively effect any team he plays for, but getting results is still an immense effort. Xfactor are not an underdog team. They are probably in the top 3 teams consistently.

Tyler Harmon? As in his move to HEAT?

Jamie Beadle is paintball. You wont find someone in the UK with as much dedication to paintball as that guy. Over here, on the pitch he is a real marmite character, but only because people can't handle his USA style of paintball. We dont really play like the top US teams do, we dont really dedicate ourselves like they do either (for various reasons) and when a rarity like Jamie does, it rubs people up the wrong way. Personally, I love the way he plays. Off the pitch you wont find anyone nicer. He is a gentleman, and always has time for a chat.

Some good insight, cheers for that! Underdog was maybe the wrong word to use for XFactor but I was just going by when the discussions pop up of who will win, the majority say Dynasty, with Heat & XFactor splitting the most of the rest.

Yea regarding Harmon I was referring to his Heat move. From what I saw, it surprised a lot of people. I've only just started picking up on it though.

I'm interested to see what else goes on through the winter in terms of player movement... I've seen rumours of lots of stuff ( Rainey retiring etc)... but until it is officially announced it's kinda hard to believe.

Dynasty have shown over the past two years that they truly are still (20 years later) a major powerhouse team ( with original members still making starting 5... Ryan, Alex)... but they will continually need to add to that roster for when some of the older guys scale back.

This is a great explanation of how X-factor came to be.

On a side note, I hadn't realised until his brilliant BananaBus just how high a level Jamie Beadle plays . Is it going to be this / following season he's out with TMG Outlaws? And is that usually covered by GoSports or a subscription? I do like to get behind the home name where possible.
I've known of Jamie for a long time, and only known him personally over the last 2 years or so... He's great.. He actually hosted our end of season bash at his field.

I believe he was announced for outlaws with the intention of playing World Cup with them this year (2021) and then as WC ended they announced their intention to sell their pro spot... so who knows what will happen next year.

Indeed, Dynasty had been great, rather I would like to say, no match so far. Yeah, some others also give a fight back but I think that this year would be crucial for them. fingers crossed
