NXL violation?

Baca Loco

Ex-Fun Police
Rumor, and I stress, rumor has it a couple of Bob's boys (Ironmen, Intimidators, Assassins, whatever the name du jour) played at Huntington Beach and given the restrictions imposed by the NXL I'm wondering if it's true and what's gonna happen if it is?

Would they be in effect yet as the NXL season hasn't started yet?

Let's take me for example, say I (this is all hypothetical) had played HB and I rocked the house and was picked up by a pro xball team. Tehre's no way I could be in violation because I wasn't on the team yet. I think teh same sort of thing is going on here. AFAIK the squads aren't "official" until the teams take the field on the first day of the first event.

Does anyone know any realy contract information? I would prefer that this doesn't go off on a "he said she said" kind of a thing ... Not that I'm helping prevent that thru my own actions or anything ...

I spoke to Bobby Thursday and he told me if the powers that be try to punish his team in any way he will pull out of X-Ball immediately............... NO contracts have been signed by any players yet so good on Bobby.
Might be interesting to see what the powers that be do :)

Pete-are we starting to see some dissention among the ranks??Cuz we all know if one gets away with with it,it wont be long till others start to follow suit..Or have the others signed contracts??

I mean,I sure what they've been offered is good and all but dont you think at this point they could get anything they want from the promoters simply because the promoters have no other choice??I just see a major problem if the teams start throwing their weight around..From my point of view, the promoters are at a big disadvantage here if the players start to realize their true value in making NXL flourish..Am I wrong to assume NXL just wouldnt work without the Pro's involved??And if thats the case, you would think these exclusive contracts are ridiculous considering the power the players hold at the moment..

Head, hmm, I don't think any of the players have signed up yet and you are right, once dissention sets in, it is contagious and will spread.
The NXL isn't yet strong enough to run without the pro team involvement so if the players did start to flex, then the NXL would have to capitulate to the players or fold, in my opinion.

The players at the moment, are getting pushed around all over the place at the moment, it remains to be seen if they get fed up with all this **** and say 'enough is enough'.

There are changes a coming in the PSP/ NXL and once effected, we'll see how the new order of things deals with these problems.

Also - it seems they are "limiting" Div1 Xball to 8 teams, but people are telling me that they are actually having trouble filling the spots - although that may well just be rumour, has anyone got the final team lists for the different divisions?.

While I am all for the principles that Xball can bring to the sport of legitimacy, coverage etc. But the contracts are only relevant when the players know what they are signing up for.

Take any professional sport, the players give up certain "rights" such as freedom to play wherever they like in exchange for the rewards offered. As I understand it the rewards of Xball are based on the punt for major TV money and possible outside sponsorship, there isn't any (major) money coming the players way imminently

So the players are asked to give up quite a lot (like playing every weekend in whatever format in whatever country they like) on the basis of a few promises.

Plus after HB I think the (Xball) Pro's might well be just a bit jealous they can't play NPPL.
