well, you know most Americans are actually Irish right? I mean, the ones that aren't Scottish or Italian...

For those players already in Ireland they can happily turn a blind eye (knowingly or not) to the position of Paintball in firearms legislation.

It shouldn’t be forgotten about the problems some people have had with the major Paintball tournaments in Europe and turning a blind eye.
There was Spain last year where a number of people had paintball guns seized, but others had no problem (who possibly didn’t look to obviously like paintballers or travelled a couple of days later)

A few times in Germany there have been confiscations, a large raid in Berlin in 2009 shortly after their legislation change:

http://www.paintball.se/forum/showthread.php?37350-Polis-razzia-i-Berlin

There are also the occasional arrests/confiscations which have taken place in Germany on occasions every now and again. Sometimes the millennium went ahead with zero issues, sometimes arrests occurred - I understand that there has been a general allowance in the region to turn a blind eye, but then some idiot would shoot up a road sign so the police couldn’t just ignore it

It’s seemed become quite routine to produce illegal F stamped bodies, (with people also in the past selling illegal stamps for you to mark it yourself), but the gun remains adjustable above the legal limit, as opposed to German editions

It’s therefore not surprising for people to be concerned about the risk of going to Dublin for NXL
It won’t be good for the new league to kick off with firearms offences

Whilst trying to avoid to be too political, some people of a certain age may not like the idea of Americans flying into Ireland bringing in guns without the legalities being squared away after the funding situarion between certain American groups and certain Irish organizations in the 70s and 80s

On the plus side for the NXL, if everyone gets their markers seized that's a lot of teams looking to buy replacements from the event sponsors...

(I sincerely doubt this is actually part of their reasoning for Dublin - Ireland would be an attractive venue if the potential firearms issue can be resolved!).

Tom most Irish would support firearms being brought from Ireland to the UK, might not be used for the right reasons though. Or that could just be some of the old angry dudes at the pub.

True 47+ million Americans are of Irish descent, only the Germans can claim higher numbers.

I don't remember people having their markers seized in Spain, they did pull anyone who had a Planet Eclipse bag out of line, because they copped on to those = markers. It was a total cluster, but knowing the law now, I think it would be easier to prepare. Plus the NXL/Mills should have a little FAQ on what to do. That would have made things so much easier, along with "DO NOT FLY RYANAIR". I have no clue why the first event is in Northern France, historical weather shows a low of 4C and a high of 14C, Salou (Spain) is 18C for the highs and 10C for the low. Which sounds a bit nicer. Tom Cole did fully admit in Chantilly that the first year for the NXL they had some **** venues, because they didn't have the time to fully research and setup multi-year agreements. The second year, the events are in much nicer places. So we may be stuck for this year in some odd places.

I'm personally super excited if they have it here, and I think folks will enjoy the touristy bits of Ireland if they stay longer than just the event.

Flying from the States to London, there are way more flights than the US to Dublin. I agree that the Olympic park thing was/is a silly idea. There's nothing hotel-wise, reasonably priced around there. Driving there would be a pain, and getting from Heathrow to there by transit isn't great either.

Knowing how long it took them to get info out in general...I don't think we'll see anything solidified until Feb or so.

Yep Trevor Resar confirmed to be going to Ironmen as well.

Where does this leave Firm? Going to take Kali and someone else? Or no American pros now that the home grown guys are doing well.

Actually Damian is staying with Valken so shouldn't be an issue :D
