Many points do NOT last a minute! The poor pot runner cannot enter the field until the point is called good and player is checked and called. While the clock starts running the moment the buzzer is pushed.
This leads to the runner entering the field with the next team immediately behind him, often not collecting all pots ,often not getting off the field before the buzzer goes and copping it. any gun issues or air queues can cause mayhem to even a well organised team never mind one with no pit crew. I have often jumped into next teams pit as they have no paint potted from about point 3 /4 mark.

Great Lakes Open Layout

One of the biggest questions teams have been asking the NXL is when the field layout will be released prior to each event. After many discussions with the Professional and Divisional Steering Committees, the NXL has elected to devise of a new "Heads or Tails" layout system. Each professional team has privately submitted one layout to the NXL. Two weeks prior to each event, the NXL will release two of those field layouts for teams to practice at their local fields. The week of the event, the NXL will flip a coin to determine which of the two layouts the staff will set up for the event. Teams will be able to practice this layout at the event on Thursday, the day before the event begins.

For the inaugural Great Lakes Open event, the NXL is releasing the first practice field layout today, three weeks early, with the second layout being released tomorrow, Saturday May 16th. This way teams wanting to take Memorial Weekend off will still have two weekends to practice the layouts.

The Steering Committees felt that releasing two different layouts for teams to practice would still maintain an element of surprise and keep things fun for the teams as they train for the event. Players explained that it can become pretty mundane practicing the same lanes over and over, but the committee members didn't want to overwhelm local fields by releasing too many layouts.

The "Heads or Tails" layout system is on trial for the 2015 season and as always, the NXL welcomes your feedback. For more information on the June 5 - 7, 2015 NXL Great Lakes Open, visit www.playnxl.com.

Teams interested in practicing the final field layout at the event on Thursday, June 4th can book their reservation by emailing Camille@xball.com.

2nd layout to be released today

Ironmen join NXL Pro Division

I guess this was always going to have to happen if the team wanted to play any professional events in the future but taking into account the Dye/PSP/Youngblood/Ironmen background it must have been interesting times for those players still part of the Ironmen programme.

It was inevitable if the franchise was to continue, as for the PSP buyout, I expect Richmond already had netting and compressors etc. lined up so there was no need for the PSP's, the same for PBA, you can expect to see the new Millennium webcast's twin up and running at Victory Park.

Feels like we've had a second off-season since the last PSP and the first NXL event, which is finally starting today. I know CPPS is on this weekend but is anybody else going to be watching today?
