I think its a bit unfair to say the first round was a dissapointment - there may have been a few minor teething problems, but this is to be expected at a new venue with a new format. All in all i think the event went well and there is plenty of positive feedback and constructive feedback for us to note for future events.
The day was well organised and the few mishaps that may have happened were unavoidable - the main reason being for the delays were problems with air - which cannot be helped. Along with a few of the Div 1 games going into overtime. The race to 2 was a new format and some may feel this could of been organised different - which im sure will be noted, but we did try to run the games as smoothly and quickly as possible.
The 1v1 game was a little different, but as mentioned by Pete the "usual" rules did not apply in this circumstance. So in order to save time and decide a winner - Syd provided an easy solution. This decided the winner and to some extent provided a little showdown to those in lower divisions between 2 top players.
Rounding the above up and considering the new venue, new format and freezing weather! I think most will agree it was a pretty decent first event and there is plenty of happy faces. I am also sure that the April event, will be alot better as the feedback we have got will be noted and addressed accordingly.
Lastly - agree this thread has gone slightly off topic with Mr B. However, I am not sure anyone actually witnessed him shooting through the netting but if this did happen i am sure he is considering the action now, and if it happens again im sure it will be addressed properly. With the claims of overshooting, as a referee on the Div 1 field, this is sometimes hard to judge. As Matt HS stated and in Method's defence - players walking without hands on their heads can expect to get shot. Its not nice and sometimes unfair, but welcome to Xball. We've all taken a few more hits and we've all given a few!
