No apparently about it Flash, you're just wrong! No way Robo shows up to play 5-man. If you're gonna make a splash, make it a big one! 10-man or nothing. (I could settle that Robo/Tyger thing for you too but would certainly offend one or the other so I will refrain until all the pieces are in place... )

In a very clever maneuver Robo has broken the first law of conspiracies by hinting that something may be up. The Beakman follows up by droppin a hint of his own thereby creating the link necessary for a true comspiracy to exist. Now, normally this would be a clear sign that nothing in fact, is up, but--what better way to throw anyone off the scent than by negating the possibility of a conspiracy before anyone has even suggested one might exist? Then should a rumor begin making the rounds no one will give it any credence. Almost brilliant. But not brilliant enuf--as Sherlock Holmes routinely used to say, "The game is afoot, Watson." [But in this case the game is paintball.]

My, my, what furtive little minds we have on this board Unsurprising really when I dropped that big, fat hint at the end of my first post.
So what is afoot ?
Hmmmm, well, don't take no rocket scientist to have a guess and I will add fuel to this conspiracy by telling you of a conversation I recently had with a very influential person / company in paintball where I was asked, "Pete, what do you think of the chances of a Brit paintball team developing, in the present climate, into a side who could compete at the top" ?
My answer don't take much working out as the word 'Zero' issued forth like a steam train coming out of a tunnel.
We don't have the weather, don't have the numbers pool, and more importantly don't seem to have the dedication required.
I'll let you lot ponder the direction of the conversation after that.

And maybe to add even more fuel the conspiracy fire, I'm going out for a meal tonight in London with Sergei, Captain of the Russian Legion, is this somehow connected to what I may or may not be up to?
Has it absolutely nothing to do with anything and merely a social event for friends ?
Or could it be just a massive dollop of name dropping ?
The plot thickens....but what plot ?

Pete, I don't think we should let the weather be an excuse... what we need is a big indoor facility in the middle of England (Say Birmingham or Warwick...) where people can play during the week and evenings.

What we need is a Great British Team promoting a Great British product (that seems to be why and how a lot of US teams are put together). Obviously if that comes off, the advertising and promotion would help pay for the funding required for such a team (it would not be a cheap exercise, but the intent would be to get it to pay for itself).

We may not have the numbers but we have the talent.

I'm not sure about the dedication... Many teams in the USA think nothing of traveliing 2-3 hours for a practice, if we did that in this country we could get a team from all over into the midlands to play, and yet very few teams/players are willing to travel that much or far...

Oops we hi-jacked Guppy's thread... Sorry! (I'll buy you a beer at the World Cup tp make up for it!)

Hmmm, interesting thoughts abound !!!

This has all the hallmarks of a real conspiracy, I mean, industry involvement, possible Russian connections, World domination (albeit Paintball orientated) and so on.......

But what is the truth.....and who is involved ?

Questions, questions everywhere and not a drop to drink !!

I might have more information after the meal tonight with Sergei but I think Sergei's involvement may well be the same as the coloured fish he may be eating tonight !!!

Well, you solved the clue alright but failed to recognise its relevance or rather lack of one.
The 'Red Herring' describes Sergei's involvement and does not apply to the overall conspiracy theory...does that make sense ?
