NPPL rule question

Yeah, to clarify, I know what the rule is there for, I was just curious how to fight frostbite with two layers.

About three years ago at a tourney, it was below freezing, and in only our second game I became soaking wet from the pond that was in the middle of the field. You could easily bunker out the center, but it required sloshing through the edge of the pond. My dumb-ass about developed hypothermia, I had to run to the truck between the rest of the games to keep some heat in me.

A simple solution is just look to other sports.

Baseball players wear a rubber coated warm-up shirt when they practice. We bought a couple and they work great - also great for rainy weather. They are not that thick so most ultimates don't mind you wearing them over a t-shirt and under a jt shirt. If they do then drop the t-shirt. Check www.eastbay.com and search for product number CBC08RD.

There are also some cold weather gear made for american football called under armour (www.underarmour.com). They have hot weather (keeps ya cooler in the heat) and cold weather gear especially made for football players.

BTW Eastbay is also a great place to find american football spikes - for those who live outside the U.S.A. and have a harder time finding them.

Hope this helps

Yeah, I agree with kieran from Thunder, i think they should come up with a winter rule or something for very cold conditions, for example if every player was allowed to wear 2 tshirts or a sweater then nobody could moan about bounce offs because youd be wearing the same as the guy your shooting at (obviously allowing everyone to wear woolly jumpers or sheep skin coats just aint gonna work).

Wel it is that time of year when the man upstairs lets us know what it's like to freeze our nuts off.

And its also that time when marshals can be jobsworths or show a bit of commonsense.

Yes as it is already quoted only two layers is the norm and they cannot be padded.

However as long as you meet do not seem to be gaining an advantage most ultimates would not make you strip down to a t-shirt and top but let's not start wearing a bubble Jacket and say its just to keep warm.

Thanks for the clothes advice Goose.
I was curious if any of you guys had even dealt with this situation. I've played in a few freezing cold tourneys, we all had plenty of layers, and no one was foolish enough to say anything about it. The thing is, these weren't NPPL, just old NAAPSA, or open tourneys somewhere. We did have the same rules, but common sense overrode it.

Or...

...maybe we should just have more indoor tournaments.
Although the clothing rule does give all TJ's pals in California a big disadvantage when they have to leave the sunny state to go play up north somewhere. Everyone else is aclimatized, but they just can't cope in anything below 80. And those SoCal teams have most of the best players, so it kind of evens the field up, IMHO.
