i agree with most of them Woz, but a few at the bottom i wouldnt bet on. I was talking to Brad in Vegas, and he said that they had no intention of sending Entourage to Malaga. And that they were going to play semi pro next year in the division under the top 18. Players will be allowed to switch between the teams as it would be a semi pro category. I asked whether they had thought about sending the Dynasty first team to play as Entourage and claim a spot for next year, and he said that it was not something that they had talked about.

Unless the Ironmen (bob's guys) can score 40 points or more i cant see them making the cut next year as they only have 61 points at the moment. And the chance of the bottom 4-5 spots in the top 17 not picking up at least 10 points each from the last 2 events is very slim

New York only have 29 points, so nless they score another 65-70 points in the next 2 events they have no chance of making the cut. Are they even planning on playing Malaga? If they are not playing Malaga then they also have zero chance of playing next year even if they win San Diego, because a 50 point haul from the last event still wont take them into the top 17 as it stands.

My 17 would be:

Dynasty
XSV
Avalanche
Arsenal
Infamous
Naughty Dogs
Team Rage
Brimstone Smoke
Joy Division
Sedition
London Tigers
Brass Eagle
Bushwackers Int
Redz Hurricanes
Shockwave
Jax Warriors
Nexus

i would say Ironmen if they are going to Spain, but i do not think that they are. Worms are unable to use anymore MS scores unless they beat there previous points from Toulouse and Germany, and they must attend San D to be in with a shout. But i do not think that they will make it. I think that Nexus will beat their score from Vegas in San D and may be in with a shout as well, and i do think that they will make it. Jax are going to spain, i believe, and i think that they will get enough points from San D to make it.

Whoever makes it I hope that they commit to playing over there more than a couple of times.

In fact the NPPL should be charging the teams up front for all events to ensure that the Pro division is full every event

Toye, sometime's you talk utter rubbish! If you wanna dig, just do it dont beat around the bush buddy! We both know there is only 1 team that has only played 1 NPPL this season. I would suggest not worrying about us to much & worrying more about your own team.;)

I meant what I said and had a feeling you would take it the wrong way.

Predictable

I have always said paintball 'leagues' are rubbish if you get to choose which events you turn up to.

Paintball a 'sport'? Not under those terms - that was the angle I was driving at - the Tigers weren't the target.

The Pro bracket should have a league that all teams in turn up to all legs. That way we wouldnt have the ridiculous situation where a certain placing gets you higher points at one leg than another.

You will note that Nexus didnt turn up to all NPPL's this year - so my comment is aimed at them too.

Mr Toye

If you had already considered the fact it may be misconstrued by certain people or me why didn't you word it in the same way as your second post?

Predictable
Ye right:p

I have always said paintball 'leagues' are rubbish if you get to choose which events you turn up to.
I have never heard you voice that opinion & i have heard you voice a lot.

Paintball a 'sport'? Not under those terms - that was the angle I was driving at - the Tigers weren't the target.
Ok so according to you then paintball aint a sport because all teams dont play all legs of said league. Get real if you as a paintballer have such cynical thoughts about paintball being a sport then what chance do we have. I think there are a lot of things that attribute to paintball not being a sport, but nowadays with fox sports & Xball i think there are a lot more attributes than less for paintball to be recognised as a "real" sport. Everything takes time & i am sure that one day all good pro teams inc tigers will receive the sponsorship required to be a "real" team in a real "sport".

The Pro bracket should have a league that all teams in turn up to all legs. That way we wouldn't have the ridiculous situation where a certain placing gets you higher points at one leg than another.
I think you will find the leagues recognise the financial minefield involved with trying to play 5 or 6 events, leave alone 9 or 10. I mean do you think tigers, shock, nexas, joy sit at home & say well i cant really be bothered to play this leg or that leg, of course not its all about finances. Dont forget most pro ballers have to work different jobs during the week putting hugh strain on the amount of holiday they may have each year. I have never been away with my family (ever) because i just cant find the money or time on top of the 6 to 7 events & training i do each year, so are you saying that i should be penalised for that?

You will note that Nexus didn't turn up to all NPPL's this year - so my comment is aimed at them too
Like i said they would play all legs if money & time wasn't a factor.

Sorry if i (as usual) took it the wrong way but when you came on it looked like a quick swipe at certain teams. Anyway all is cool not looking to stir things up or have a war of words.;)

Woz well reasoned BUT

I have said this before, maybe not to you but I have.

I have argued that there should be a certain number of compulsory events in a year that ALL top teams attend - in a genuine league format (like X Ball has tried).

At the moment the 'sport' of paintball is lead by money, sales, entry fees, paint bills etc. Like you most ballers cant attend 6 or 7 events and should you be penalised? How many can you attend? 5? Well 5 is a fair number to assess the top team in a league. But the league should be compulsory, that is each team enters to play all legs to decide the winner. The 5 events would then have all the teams in attendance.

I would have pro teams enter this under these conditions and everyone else carry on the same. There would be no entry fee for the pros, but no prize money either. The money would be distributed at the end of the season according to league position. I realise this isnt working too well in NXL but it makes sense (paintball is not ready for it maybe?).

Other events could be arranged around this schedule on the basis of 'cup' formats. These would not be compulsory but would involve ca$h and kudos.

I may have been a bit harsh re the sport doubts but I HAVE always said that paintball is not the sort of sport where you can go buy a ball and kick it around the park ie a one off cost sport. It is a consumer sport (past time;) ) that costs and costs as you consume and consume. Until the top teams can exist with no financial output (other than paying wages, insurances etc), playing a league that can finance itself (staff ec) then the world will look at it as an exciting side show where most who play are those that are lucky eough to be able to afford it.

And Woz - this is a debating forum, we have our own opinions, I enjoy reading yours and replying - so no worries

Gareth

I am playing nice. I am expressing an opinion that teams should play in a league and make it worthwhile by actually attending it.

Maybe what I mean is that the cross code of Mills and NPPL may be wrong if the NPPL is capping and Mills arent?

Now I know for a fact that Tigers have played well this year and under the rules that have been laid out fully deserve their, position.

I just thought that if I were running a league and had a pretty exclusive club then I'd expect my members to use it!!!

What if Man Utd could go play in the French League and take the points home to the Premiership and as long as they played 10 premiership games they'd still be judged in the premiership!

Doesnt seem right to me.

And remember guys - it makes no difference to me personally. Its just my point of view that its not a real league whilst its open to anyone who can afford it whenever they wanted 'just book in'!!

Maybe we are trying to run again before we are able to walk - stretching meagre resources too far?
