The problem with British sites
The main reasons why we do not have large kick arse sites like the states is because of the geographic nature of the UK.
In order for a site to be succesfull it has to be based close to a population centre, as us Brits are a lazy bunch of gits, who don't like to travel long distances to the local site. Another problem is the transportation system. Many of our roads are small and windey. This means you have to travel twenty miles to get to a place five miles away, and this sux. To counter this site owners try to place their site as close to a main popultion centre as they can, but as they get closer to towns and cities the price of the land increases and thus they cannot have such a large site.
If you look at the large americain sites they are huge spreading over many acres but very little of this is woodland. In the Uk most sites are situated in woodland and as we all know this is a very small comodity within the UK, with much of it being turned over to more economical viable Farmland decades ago. Okay the farmers are in economic strife at the moment and are willing to rent out woodland on their estate for pennies at the moment, due to it being dead land to them. but a site is limited to the range of the woodland and that is it.
As sites get closer to cities you also have another problem, Vandels. As many site owners like to build structures out of wood if you have a vandel problem you have to search out alternative construction materials. The main source is metal and thus the construction material price rockets, also the time it takes to errect structures.(Hell it takes moments to slam in a nail to a piece of wood, but it takes longer to either drill and bolt or weld metal.)
Okay the big sites in the states have aircraft fuselages and old scrapped tanks, some of the Uk sites also have these items on their fields, but many do not due to not being able to get them easily.(be buggered if i know where to buy scrap tanks and choppers).
And this also leads us to that time-old arguement of the military theme of paintball. Many of the tourney players say lets move the game away from the 'weekend warrior' status. But remember that rec sites are keeping the sport alive.
