Does anyone think that the general public is fooled when we say "marker"? It looks like a gun, you shoot stuff from it. Is this just pathetic PC posturing? I mean, maybe we're not giving the non-paintballing public sufficient credit. Thery can tell that nail guns, staple guns, and hot glue guns are not weapons (unless you hold them right). Surely they can sort out a gun meant for non-lethal recreation?

Are we addressing the wrong problem here? Marker as a term is jargon. Say gun and they all know which piece of equipment you mean.

No, you're starting another thread (which has also been done before--but no reason not to do it again. New people, new ideas here all the time.)

Unfortunately unless sites move to purely hyperball or airball fields and abandon the woods, this change will never happen. Which is a shame.
I hope we never totally abandon woodland - it might not be spectator friendly, but given the choice I'd far rather play a woodland tourny than sup air - it's all about going back to your 'roots' ;)

right, i have to say this

cammo ain't going nowhere kiddies!

how many indoor sites are there? not many? why? cos people like to "play war" they like to call thier p'balls "ammo" they like smoke grenades, forts, villages, trenches (fun but a little dangerous even to my mind) they like mud!

when has a big game or scenario game ever had trouble filling places?

where did you play your first game?

do you like sup'air cos you're old and it involves less walking?

and has anyone ever noticed the player tops make a team look like an los angeles gang?

lets face it, without recballers and punters no team would be able to fling the equivilant of 6months dulux production at each other without actually having to pay for it!

funny how there's quite a few teams at the drug wars

oh and a little story, i often play with punters at a few local sites near my home, all of which have sup'air or at least an old type speed ball field on them

from what i've seen the players are there for a whole day and they really don't seem to like to play any one field more than once a day, unless, oddly enough, it has either a bridge or a rocket on it!

We do a poll at the end of each day of paintball at the site I work at to see which field they want to play last, and 90% of the time it'll be one of the woodland scenario ones, particularly the village, VIP and especially the trenches game.

The whole fantasy and camo/soldier presentation is what the punters thrive on and what the majority want out of a days paintballing with their mates.

Right now the rec-ball is the majority, maybe one day the roles will be reversed and the majority will lean more towards tourney ball when it becomes mainstream, but even then the recball will be far from dying out, it is here to stay.

Ban camo in the woods or ban tournament...... which would kill the industry quickest? Tourney is tiny by comparison so no chance. Can you see bright overals on the rec field?
Team A: Slipknot vs Team B: Plumbers.
Not likely is it.
I think the war angle is bad for the public image of the sport, but I mean the "kill Saddam", Vietnam etc.... stuff, I don't think rec-ball in camo can be offensive until we start naming sides after countries etc...
Banning camo might allow us to be more credible as a sport, which would be great for the three weeks it would take for every manufacturer to go bankrupt.

Ban Camo?
Yes in do
In tourneys cause there is no use for it
Rec ball is a thriving industry that does nothing wrong
and has an safety record to die for.
Its a bit of escapism some people go once and never again
and some go as often as they can.
So it looks like war - when was the last time British forces fight in dense woodlands - so what is it not better to play war than fight one.

Boring - can we talk about something else now
