Hmmm - you didn't dismiss KotH though ;). Maybe we'll see you there :p.

As for the format - maybe that's part of the problem - are you trying too many different ones? Now, I'm not trying to teach my Granny etc. - but maybe if you concentrated on just one format - beat them all at that - then move up/over?

After all - 'interesting' Mansell didn't drive F1, Indy and F3 all at the same time.

Thing is - which one do you choose? Whichever it is - then maybe the UK should adopt it. IMHO I think the current 7/5 man format is stale. We've been playing it for years - and still get it handed to us when we go abroad. I think of it as a stop gap between tourney and woods.

I know 'fight club' is trying to be different - but as that is invite only or only friends of certain people get to play it - it is useless to the rest of the UK.

Do you think that it is time to establish a true X-ball style domestic league? One that has nothing to do with the good old 5/7-man format?

Then again, that brings us back to the expense...

Oh hum - catch-22 is here again

That might be part of our problem but that doesn't explain everything as I think not consistently training together is the biggest factor and with players coming from Denmark, South Africa, France and the US, it ain't making that any easier.
Europe has to follow the dominant US format, any other strategy is pure folly and so we are locked into waiting to see what happens.
For the most part, this doesn't affect the vast majority of European teams because it's only us and Joy who are playing Stateside but with the Joy guys being able to practice together sometimes 3 times a week, they are consequently coping in the NPPL better than us.
I think it's about time Nexus got back to being a wholly UK team again in terms of its line up because that's when we were strongest, we trained together most fortnights and at the moment, developing a team attitude like we did in that first year is almost impossible.
I will get back Nexus back to the top ....mark my words !!!!!

Either that - or move all your squad to a little country mansion to live together (Dynasty style).

It's wierd - but most current UK players complain about travelling within the UK - let them try running an international line up!

I have no doubt that Nexus can get back up there. As a matter of interest - who do you have scouting for you now? Do you have scouts at domestic events?

And thats why most UK players wont make it. The opportunities are there, and people put in alot of effort/money/time to give those opportunities, if the players dont take them because they have to do a bit of travelling, then they dont deserve it.

I'm not talking about Robbo's Ninjas ;). I mean genuine scouts - that players know are scouts (like they do in football). Nothing 'cloak and dagger'.

Mike - this is me not disagreeing (sp).
