Gee, I didn't know there was an agreement to call the team by that name. My mistake, I shouldn't be so sensitive. I guess the guys that thought they were playing for Avalanche will just have to suck it up. :( :(

Naw, man, I think you were right that their official name is Avalanche and that is the what they should be called. I just thought it was funny to read that today during lunch after your post.

I know there isn't an agreement about it, I just wanted to see how far this would go. I knew the guys on this forum had too much class to let it go too far.
It was so great to see the Nexus guys again. Nick Truter will be interviewed for the paintball program on our LA sports station tonight at 8:00pm pacific time. I think that's about 4 am for you guys. You can hear it on the web by going to
http://www.1540theticket.com/ticket_window/ and clicking on 'listen live'
It was also nice to meet a few of the Shockwave UK players after reading their posts on this forum for so long. I hope they continue coming to the NPPL tournaments.
We missed seeing the Russian Legion competing.
You should have seen some of the awesome slides on the new turf.
It was a terrific tournament. :) :) :)

Because their name is Avalanche

By calling them Kappalanche (and we all did it to start with) suggests a merger of teams - whereas Ed invited these guys to play for Avalanche

Which is what they are now!

It was hard to even recognize Avalanche at HB, in small part because it was Empire and not JT clothing on their backs but, more significantly, because they were in blue. Avalanche in blue..... it just didn't seem to fit.

Ironic, though, that its Miami Effect that now wears the Avalanche yellow.

First, let me make clear that this is my opinion only. I'm not aware of how the players feel about it. They may not care one way or the other, or then again they may care very much.
Avalanche has a long history. Some good some bad, but the impact the team has had on the sport is huge. The team consisted of unforgettable personalities and the marketing of the team was phenomenal. It doesn't matter what you think of Lasoya, Rocky, Ed, and the others, the point is you will always remember them. It doesn't matter where I go, if anyone plays paintball, they have heard of and are interested in Avalanche.
The guys that came from Kapp are fantastic. Dave is one of the best I've ever seen, but they play for Avalanche now. I know that means a LOT to them because they've told me so. Also, there are players that never played for Kapp. They played for Avalanche, Oakland Assasins, Colorado Shooters, etc. They also are placed under the Kappalanche umbrella.
I find it amusing that the person at Kapp would like to encourage the name in 2004. Who could blame them, they have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
As for me, the names like Avalanche, Iron Men, and the others should be preserved and respected as the pioneers in this sport, no matter who plays for them. If you love the game as much as I do, you should understand. If you don't understand, change the name of your team to incorporate another team name and see how it fits and feels. I think you might find it a bit uncomfortable, but then again I may be overly sensitive and you might not care at all .;)

Avidfan, your right in that they are a great bunch of guys, and Dave is an awesome player. Together they make quite a team.

Mark, I don't get your point, I think they look great in Empire and shooting Intimidators... ;) :D Who me? Biased? :D :D :D

It is kind of strange seeing them in blue rather than black and yellow though...
