I'll tell you when i know
Hi dudes and dudeses

Just thought i'd start a thread about the differance between these kick a$$ markers.

I was reading somewhere that the racegun was lighter and quicker than the Nexus. So why is the racegun £400 cheaper?

Any got any ideas!!

The answers you seek are in the Tech Forum, and even if they are not, you may find that your post will get answered if you repost this post there.

But all you will get is players who have Eblades rave about how they are superior. And Players who have Race guns rave about how their guns are superior.

The best thing to do is try one of each out, and see what you think, as everyone has their own opinion, and the differences of each gun are largely down to what the user is comfortable with, and wants to get out of the gun.

Happy hunting and reposting:)

But, if you want to know why the price difference is there:

Eclipse is a respected brand name, therefore more money
Racegun is a small company and needs to have low prices to compete

The nexus has much more expensive milling, whearas the halfblock is mildly milled with bits chopped off

The nexus has a better (therefore more expensive) front end than the halfblck, and so will cycle faster, but if you put QEV's (about £20) on a halfblock, it will go jut as fast

Erm, actually Toole, the Race halfie bodies are completely milled from scratch and are not a cocker body chopped up, you can have any bits on the front end you want, be it evolution frontend (which is exactly what the nexus has but without the e milled into it) or the palmer frontend and both can come with or without QEV's, all for the same price. Plus through many tests it has turned out that the Palmer front end it just as good as the evolution front end and so it doesn't matter which one you have, they are as good as each other.

Plus the halfblock is just as fast or faster than the nexus as there is much less moving mass for the ram to move and so can cycle faster. And about the brand name, yes Eclipse is well established and respected, but Raceguns are fast gaining respect from ballers and there will be a lot of teams and ballers out there using raceguns and halfblocks this season.

So at the end of the day it is all about preferance, the Nexus cockers look SWEET and are very fast, but have the e-blade. The halfie is smaller, lighter, way cheaper, just as fast and imho just as sexy, but has the race grip. So if you prefer the e-blade then look to the Nexus, if you prefer Race then look to the halfblock. Either way go out there and try both, there will be a number of nexus cockers and halfblocks out there this season so it shouldn't be too hard to find some to try out.

I think the award for 'Most uninformed post of 2004 so far' goes to Toole :D

Price difference on the Eclipse & Halfblock comes down to one thing in my opinion, level of profit.

Halfblock is a nice marker, and at £875 competes with most mid to high end markers out there at the moment. This means that you will probably see a greater level of Race halfies being used over this year.

On the other hand the Nexus, retailing at £1275 is offering the bling factor to people. You aren't going to see a person on every team with one, cause there expensive, and therefore hold a greater level of exclusivity :)

Performance wise to the average person who picks up a marker and shoots it there isn't much difference. There both light, they both have electronic frames, although the frames do feel worlds apart.

To the technical people out there you can probably talk about open and close times and max this that and the other, but the average baller can't shoot 20bps so the fact they are capable of that is a moot point to me :)

If there is a big performance difference between the two though I can't see the addition of QEVs' making up that big a difference.

Like others have said try a race, try an e-blade, this will decide which marker to go for :)

Personally I like both of them, but like I said they do feel completely different :)
