I would wish to thank everybody for placing your opinions and making all those comments without even letting me explain proplery, you have all made your minds up without even giving me a chance which is a bit small minded and stupid. Firstly the warehouse IS covered by insurance because wether or not it is being used it has to be covered in case kids break in and hurt themselves. Secondly We DO have permission from the owner Thank you for assuming we dont. thirdly we have been using this site for months not only for paintball but for target practice with air rifles and have had no complaints or problems from anyone. fourth I am fully aware of what people think of a team of men in coveralls thats why you get suited up INSIDE Duh! Fitfh I know what kids are like and there is only one way into the warehouse and that is at the front to which is guarded by my friend and his rottweiller. So yes kids can get past gurds but i dont think they can get past a dog, saying that he is kept in a container right by the warehouse door whenpeople are on site. But I have posted this message on various paintball forums and had a great response and 4 new members ready to join, This site seems to slag you off at the first oppertunity without hearing the facts, and to be honest I am not going to bother posting on here anymore when i can get better results from other decent forums.

Ok looks like we got the wrong end of the stick and for that i'm sorry but it is in the interest of the sport to look after itself and from the view we got it would have been damaging the players involved and to the sport as a whole.

appology accepted at least there are some decent people on here I mean what the hell is up with everyone on this site. I put one post on here, leave it a few days come back and I am told i have no insurance I have not got permission and I am a knobhead I mean what the hell is all that about. I have been given lots of support by many people who encourage the idea, yet some people have jumped to conclusions and made accusations that they cant back up and I get called a knobhead and giving the sport a bad name. It makes it sound like I am doing it down at the childrens playing field or something. If anybody has any more questions or opinions please try asking me first instead of making me look like an ameteur that has no idea what he is doing. I know the law, i know the restrictions and how careful you have to be nowadays.

Sorry to put a downer on things (again) here... but... you will not have insurance for the purpose you are going to use/use the site for. Public liability insurance is very specific. Insurance for paintball is mega expensive and not something covered under normal insurance t&cs'.

Also you have to make sure you comply with certain regulations, like idstance from public housing/roads etc. Don't know what these are exactly but the UKPSF would be able to help.

Think all people get excited for is the risk some people (I'm not saying you here mind :) ) take when it comes to paintball related sites/activities.

you had a lot of people slagging you of about the legality of it.

wonder how many of these people speed in their cars for some reason or other.

im from a poor background - its hard to pball, especially if your on the younger side. if you got a warehouse thats free use it. its unused, your not breaking into it and you even said you'll clean it up. its not as if your charging £40 a ticket and have a kitchen selling burgers is it. plus you anyone who turns up knows its not legit so wouldnt expect it to cover them for damage.

if the firm loses its security contract then, its their falut for not having any on-site checks or supervisors, i was a security guard on nights and we had phone calls every hour and a guy come round every two to three weeks.

on the whole SAS thing then thats not my thing - a bit cheesy personally, but the chance to play in an office environment that'll certainly be a laugh.

go for it guys. on a note from experience if it dont have running water then take plenty of it.

appologies.... its just in your initial post it states that your mate is a security guard that looks after a derelict warehouse, which peeps on hear would be led to believe it is not his, and the land owner is not aware of what is going on, obviously now you are telling us that he/she is fully aware, that is fair enough, like the other lad states, you need to be so carefull with regards to insurance tho, and as the word derelict was used, to us paintballers that means (dangerous) so that is probably what the second missunderstanding was.........i can confirm tho that as this is a growing sport, which the fraternity welcomes anyone who can promote the healthy growth of the sport, however can, and will shun those that may cause problems, or are a danger to the development to the game, hence the type of feedback you have recieved (not saying that you are one of those people )
to round this off and maybe help somewhat,, the impression that was portrayed in the initial post gave a slight "gung ho" view of what you intend to do, my humble advice would be to continue using this forum, as it is the leading forum in the uk / europe / usa and is the best to speak out about what you are doing, however be very carefull how things are put accross.

my advice for your setup would be:-
* obtain written consent from the landowner
* get the site risk assessed asap
* INSURANCE (this is here to protect you from a major head ache)
* inform local police of your intentions, they will assist you ie security, legislation, and obviously update the premesis on their computer in case a call comes in to the address
* continue to post, advertise on here (be prepared for constructive criticism, if it comes) take on board anything anyone has to say never take it personally, if you dont like what you read, challenge it like you have done, and we will all try and help if we can
ok i have pretty much filled this text box up now

oh john i hear what ya saying mate, but if you fell and broke your spine or whatever, and the injury could have been avoided through setting up via the correct channels, i think you would probably agree that you would not mind paying a little bit more, your life is priceless mate :) if dave sets this venture up the right way, he could be onto a winner ! we need to encourage that mate :)

cheers goodluck

Peace

yeah i understand the insurance and if this were to be a legit site then yeah, but i assume it wont be week in week out and wont have a large playing count (after all how many of us on here would want to play soldiers for the day?). plus this is where he have to assume he is not an idiot and does use common sense to dictate playing zones and general safety issues. plus the baller would have to asess it for himself and take the appropiate decision to play or not, i know i wouldnt play somewhere i didnt feel safe regardless of the oppurtunity to do so. i totally agree with you on the safety aspect.

and to the initial poster:

regarding this site not being a "friendly one" read a little more of the forums you'll see that not only are the majority very helpful, but also friendly and genuine. dont let the minority pass judgement to the many and to be fair you didnt dictate whther you had landowners permission to use the w/house. it was a bit harsh for you to be blamed for making pb look bad and called a knobhead though.

but back to the SAS bit, would you not prefer looking into airsoft and their scenario games, they do a lot of rescue the hostage/defuse the bomb stuff with replica gun models, smoke nades, flashbangs, etc..., maybe this will be up your street a little more than pb which in essence is a totally different game than what i think your looking for, but thats my opinion.

good luck anyway.

thank you the responses are so much better now, I do accept that I missed a few points out on my initial post, but i didnt want to flood the screen because there would have been too much to read and you wouldnt take it all in. But when I play with my mate we usually do it in our combats anyway we dont use our overalls until night time because then you properly blend in and its scary. I used to work for his company because he is the bosses son. I see the point that it isnt covered by paintballers insurance, but that is up to the person who decides to come and play and personal common sense and gun safety. I am **** hot when it comes to gun safety over everything else, after all i am a member of the air rifle association have a firearms licence and to get that there are so many rules and regulations you have to abide by, that includes buying a very thick gun case that dont come cheap. I spent the whole weekend with my mate, cleaning the whole place up a bit and moving anything that could be dangerous or a hazard. One other thing i forgot to mention is that it is 44,967 sqare feet. As for the other comment I will see about getting the written consent and I will let the police know as soon as i get it. Now hopefully you will see that I am not gung ho with this idea and I am trying to make this work and have a place for people to play if they cant afford to do rec ball all the time. I dont want to step on anyones toes or cause problems, I just want to play with more people rather than just my mate, because games are very limited at the moment.
