A bottle cover gives loads more grip to your setup which is handy in tight spots, plus theres the safety issue.

Saying that, most of XSV dont bother with covers.

lok soks are my preferred choice - as they sto slippage - protect my lovely bottle - and still let me inspect the bottle without having to remove them .

To actually answer your question - you do not NEED to use any type of cover - but most people will suggest you do.

You can use the stickers people put on the shower floor to avoid slipping. One big flower on the back will stop that bottle moving around. Also, the petals will wrap nicely around the curvature of the bottle.
