You try and do something and this is the response, before you think that sites pluck these prices out of the air, or try and pick a figure they think they can get away with they dont, this is the recommended guide price from the National Paintball Club. Being a UKPSF acredited venue your site has to be to a specific high standard, and I can tell you now that Ambush exceeds these in all respects, don't forget that as well as the general upkeep of the site, sites have a lot of overheads regardless of if you decide to come down or not Ambush will still have to pay catereers (for steak, chicken, buthcer made burgers & sausages, 2 salads and bread rolls and not your mystery meat in a bun option) & staff specifically for you as well as the normal rent, fuel and other overheads.

Now before you start jumping all over me with this telling me I would say that, let me tell you that it doesnt matter to me wether you turn up or not, I personally make no money off of you per head. I have been in the sport and the industry for 18 years, and ask anyone who knows me I try and help promote the sport and help people out as much as I can. This weekend just gone I made a 450 mile round trip to train my friends team, I never charge anyone (some of them were kind enough to help with petrol money but it was no where near the £40 I put in) and hopefully they came away with something from the day.

At least Marcus is being constructive with his posts, remember this is Ambush's first event so they are very much testing the water so to speak, if you have any questions or suggestions then I suggest dropping Christine an email or giving her a ring I am sure she would welcome your suggestions/comments.

And Clompy get your arse down here before I have to bite your rosette off ;)

nicely worded kitch.

The site itself is excellent and the marshalls there are top drawer. Plus, i'd happily pay the deposit fee just for that lovely lunch they provide for punters. this is their first one, the more successful the more consideration they can apply to future ones.

best bit of advice from kitch's entire post was:

if you have any questions or suggestions then I suggest dropping Christine an email or giving her a ring I am sure she would welcome your suggestions/comments.
i'm sure any site would welcome advice from experienced players as to what they can do to improve service. ultimately, if its something they can acheive, their business will be succesful but more importantly, you'll have a good time.

If I can get the money together I may still come for one trip to test the site out.

One thing I really like about BYO though, is site paint always tends to be a smaller bore than the barrels of the markers I have. Yeah I know - I should get a Dye u/l or a pipe kit or similar.

Specs Ops is a perfect match and tommahawk isn't too bad either. How much would it cost to get this paint at your site?

Thanks for all of your comments - as Kitch said, we spoke to several sites that are already running walk ons and are involved with the National Paintball Club. Our prices are directly comparable with Campaign and various other quality sites -as an acredited venue our standards are high and it may be that our prices reflect that. As we are not willing to lower our standards, our prices will have to stay where they are for the moment. The BYO issue is one that we may look at, but not for the moment.
With regards to the paint, we will get prices on the brands mentioned tomorrow and post them when we have them.
If you want to save a few bob, bring your own lunch and we can reduce the fee by a fiver ;)

I think this is supurb News, not just for all those who yearn to experience woodland scenarios at a faster pace and with more advanced equipment, but for those who want to become more familiar with the sport in general and to discover that there is more to it then what rec-ball sites offer to your average joe.

I personally will attent as soon as these Exams are over

Glad to hear it Ambush!
