if you are new to the sport, DO NOT get a cocker. not unless you like spending most of your game-time screwing around on it. from what i know cockers are for experts. i know people who spent whole tournament days just to adjust their timing right...its crazy stuff. of course...if it runs, it runs. but the point is the IF!
get yourself an e-spyder i would say. its not that accurate as the cocker but its much easier to handle. i play an impulse from eclipse and think its cool for me, but this one is also a bit more expensive.

how dare ya bitch a cocker
hey mate if u look make a search in syb there is a post
"thumbs up or down for cockers"
the response was very much so up and with the e-blade the demand has got greater

as for timing ya dont have to time a cocker everytime u go to play
so ?
i would suggest a cocker and there is so many upgrades and you wont lose alot if he decides to sell

A autococker pretty much matches your requirements, especially the new 2003 vert feed ones. Your best bet would be to go and talk to the people at your local site and they should be able to help you. At the end of the day it all comes down to how much you wanna spend.
:D

i think cocker has a vote
but it just depends on your budget

Ummm, have you actually played paintball yet? If not, try playing a few times before you go spending a couple hundred bucks on it. If you spend the money then find you don't like it, you're out a big chunk of change.

Once you've played a few times, you'll have a better understanding of the markers, equipment, etc., and a better idea of what you're looking for. If you ask nicely, most experienced players will let you try their marker out and even shoot a few balls with it. That way you can see how a Tippman, Spyder, Piranha or (insert marker of your choice) feels.

When you do get something, my recommendations are:

1. Get a good thermal mask. I don't care how good your marker is, you can't hit what you can't see (due to a fogged up lens) and eyes are not replacable
2. Check your local stores first. They can tell you the pros and cons of most markers, tell you how to care for your marker, give you advice on upgrades and help you out if you have problems.
3. Learn about how your marker works. This is particularly true if you get a higher level marker like an Autococker. I love Cockers (and currently own three), but they can be aggravating if you don't know how to maintain/care for/ fix them.

calm down. im not bichin, its just that i think that a cocker might be too much technical stuff for a beginner. and i just shared my experience with cocker players. maybe the guys i saw workin on their markers for ages were just too stupid, dont know...
i dont know how it is with an e-blade, i just thought that markers like the impulse or the e-spyder might be easier to handle for a newbie.of course the cocker is a great marker.

cockers are not that bad as long as you don't mess about with them ,when ther working let them be;)
the most reliable marker ive ever owned/used is the angel, its never let me down(apart from when i let the battery flatten doh):D

start off with something very inexpensive unless you've been into paintball for several months now :p

for beginner i would say get an m3 black dragun which costs about $80US or in CAN that would be i think $120CAN

i bought a 70$ gun to start with. i then decided that i liked the sport! i now have a tippmenn98 custom-rt trigger-dye boomstik 12v revv-drop foward-ducktail-20oz with a siphion tube and a cut off-ex chamber, it is a great gun.... if i had known that i was going to enjoy this sport this much i think i would have bought an angel. i still have no regrets because my tippy is maintenance free, shoots great, and if it gets too dirty i can put it in dishwasher! how many guns/markers can you say that about!

I highly agree. timing slips over time! not overnight
