Hey, i'm new to Paintballing. I've went 3 times, all for Birthday parties, and i have no equipment of my own, I rent every time. Would you suggest me buying my own gear? Or, rent a few more times until i'm sure that I want to stick with it. I want to stick with Paintballing because it's an intense, and different sport. But, I can't afford any equipment, so i'm going to save up all my money for it.

Also, if anyone has any tips for me, I'd appreciate it very much.

Well if you enjoy it allot (seems you do), and have some money to spend on it, as well as somewhere that does walk on days near by, then by all means. Go for it!

Tips:
first thing you should buy: A good Mask
2nd thing you should buy: A good Hopper
3rd: Probably a pack + pots & protection?
4th: Air tank + small accessories (such as squeegy etc)
5th: Gun

that way you can still rent if you can't want, but use your own equipment if the place lets you.

This video helped me and is what i based my reply on:

but it is expensive to start up. I recently just have, with most 2nd hand bits, few new & it costs quite a bit to get you set up, (so much better with some 2nd hand stuff! Seriously arm pads = £25 - £30 new, 2nd hand = £10ish BARGIN! Tip: try and get some stuff 2nd hand if you want to save some cash, just make sure the guy your buying off is cool + won't screw you over) depends on the person if they want some bits 100% shiney new =p

After getting the bits, Its just the cost of entry and paint. Thats it. Paints usually cheeper i find as well on walk on days.

Hope i've helped a bit and anyone more experianced then me, by all means edit/add to what i've said!

yes it is mate.
with out a pack you cant carry paint apart from the paint in your hopper.
and with out paint on the field you cant play.

and yeh buy 2nd hand gear, i made the mistake of buying ALL my gear brand new and cost me £300. (it wasnt the best set up but oh well).
but if i baught it it 2nd hand it would have cost NO more than £200.

Air Tank

and a few other bits and bobs, then as you go, you can get upgrades

I think with your current budget you should look into getting a PMR ( proto matrix rail) their are great starter markers and fantastic value for money. also they are very reliable and easy to look after.
probably the most anoying piece of kit you will need to buy will be an air bottle so keep an eye out for people selling them on the forums, that way you can save yourself some money.

Welcome to the forums and welcome to paintball,

Please dont take this as me telling you to leave, but if you are looking for 2nd hand gear I would suggest checking this forum but also look at PBNation.

Most sales on here are people selling in the UK, and very little in the USA and Canada. PBNation I believe is over in your neck of the woods.

----------------------

With that said, as much as you are on a budget dont cheap out on a mask. Its the most important piece of kit you will own. By all means get 2nd hand (much cheaper) but dont go and buy the cheapest available (price new) because its cheap.

Just remember to stick to your budget as paintball can get mighty expensive if you let it.

Welcome and enjoy the wonderfull world of paintball

personally, i dislike PB nation. If a sale goes bad, then you won't get any help i've heard.. Here at least the admins give a crap about you :)

anyway i've played 2 times now, both with my lil blue piranha mechanical marker and had a blast with it! Got quite a few guys out with him xD I bought myself a PMR recently, get to try that out this coming Tuesday. But i'll play with my piranha every now and then, because i love him =P

Btw, where are you from? i noticed you said you saved $180 not £180. Are you from the US at all?

His location as per the forum is: "Location: Canada, B.C., Abbotsford"

Its only because of this I mentioned the Nation. I suppose people will be willing to send to Canada, but that just adds to the price
