Look at the GoG Envy £150 New that was my first marker still have it and use it to this day.
OR maybe the 2011 proto rail they are pretty much the same thing but come in fancy colours.
Or for a decent cheap mechanical gun you could look at the azodin kaos ,I've got one for really rainy days and its good fun .

hi all
went paintballing for the first time ever yesterday and loved it,im now thinking of getting my own gun, having done a little bit of research im thinking of going for the tippmann a5,is this a good choice?
Hey mate,

I was in your position in september when I was new and thought about getting the A5 myself too.

Its a solid gun and certainly "cool" looking but I personally wouldnt recommend it.

The reason for this is because as you play more you will find that tournament markers will outgun you in literally every fire fight and you get quite heavily supressed unable to even pop your head up.

My advice is to get a tournament style one such as a Planet Eclipse marker. I have an Etek 4 LT.

Also be sure to buy from reputable and long-standing members from the classifieds sections and from people who can get more than 1 person to vouch for them for previous sales.

My first purchase of a marker turned out to be a nightmare as I was sold a faulty x7 phenom and thank god I did it via paypal and not as GIFT hence I was able to dispute the transaction (and thankfully won).

My advice is to never send it as gift just incase and opt to pay fees as you dont really want your first step into paintball to be ruined like mine.

Thankfully it seemed that chap was a bad apple and my other transactions have been flawless since - there are some really good people in the forums so dont "jump in" impulsively; take your time, do your research.

Hope this helps,

Meph

Meph is one of my team mates, and as such, I know what he is saying.

Only thing I want to re-itterate is that, that seller was in his own words, a bad apple.

As a whole we are all good people. We sell our stuff on these forums to help out the newer players, as well as the more senior. And of course to make a couple of quid.

The majority will not fleece anybody

Hi Gixxer, and Welcome, those 2 x guns ( which we call a Marker or Gat ) are Not the same or even similar, of course both are Paintball guns but I think you would be better to click on the above bar at the top of this page such as just Paintball or LIPS, then you will see a whole host of different GAT`s to choose from, Biggish that try to look like a real one or a small one that kicks arse and are usually a better buy, and on the question of which to use :- Air or C02 , always Think of the Air as the better way to go for a number of reasons, Every paintball site in the World WILL eventually change to use Air. This should help you before you ask your very next question/s.

The tippmans x7 phenom is very different to the Etek 4 LT.

The tippmans x7 phenom can be customised to look like more military style guns although it comes in various customised formats.

The Etek 4 comes either as the LT version or AM version - they are identical practically except the AM version is ALL METAL (hence AM) and the LT version has some lighter materials used in it to save on costs - the price difference between the two is £100 approx.

The x7 Phenom and Etek 4 look and play different in my opinion - very different.

The phenom can be used without the attachments but I think a tournament marker is better as they tend to be lighter and smaller to carry.
This is quite important I found on the battlefield when your trying to aim your gun around corners or above cover to fire off shots.

This is just my opinion though.

Also its best to get AIR tanks as opposed to CO2 gas as they can screw with a guns internals much more than AIR - especially in varying weather like the cold I believe.
