Beaker - Ah! Super, cheers. Must admit though, I can't help thinking these ReBalls might cause a bit of a fuss over here though.

In the wrong hands you've effectively got a 20BPS semi auto gun that fires rubber bullets? Are am I just being alarmist?

That said, I still want some but will wait for that net thing to be ready before investing :)

Did he not say in the video that the balls hurt less than paintballs?
Or were those crazy swedes just snapping at each other and taking the pain. :D
Also werent these going to be distributed by WDP?

May just have to point the coach in the direction of one of these things (a personal one for in my uni halls perhaps ;))

Ben, your alarm is understandable because I was the same but I spoke to a guy from ReBall at campaign at some length about the matter.

Basically what defines legality is the amount of pressure in joules that a shot exerts on Impact. Along with being softer than paint balls and lighter, they are designed to be shot at a velocity of no more than about 230FPS. This way they fall within the law as they do not exert more force than a regular paintball. Apparently it has all been checked out and given the thumbs up and the guy i spoke to seemed to be very aware of what the laws were.

I've been shot by one at about 20 yards, at a velocity of around 250-260 ish (didn't adjust the gun for smaller size of balls) and it didn't hurt any more than a regular paintball. They also make a rather different sound during flight as they are on their way to impact.

I was/am VERY impressed with the ReBall. As soon as I can get the cash together I'm gonna be buying a load and using them for indoor training in a similar sort of venue as Joy use.

I agree, the implications, training wise, are significant. I'm just worried about when some tit cranks his marker up to 370fps and goes doing drive-by's around town with them. But then I suppose anything is open to abuse...

Same logic can really be applied to current markers and regular paintballs.....

ReBalls at higher velocitys than what's recomended will lose a great deal of accuracy aparantly....at 370 you'd probably end up shooting yourself :p

yup - you don't see baseball bats getting banned because someone used them a little "differently" than intended.
