the only way any of these site will work is if you shut down this forums classifieds ..I personally think that P8nt was the death of marker mart ,,,who can be botherd with auctions when you can just buy straight away from here .
I completely dissaggree that it would only work if you shut down the classifieds. P8nt was the death of the original markermart...probably...but not for any reason other than nobody had a clue marker mart even existed, or once they did, never bothered to visit it. You can't auction off goods if no one is watching to bid on them. But the whole auction theory has been tried and tested very successfully around the globe. And now that ebay.co.uk won't allow gats I think it's a great idea. People just have to know the site is alive and active then people will visit regularly like they would their current favourite classified forum or ebay.
The lure of nabbing a good deal at an auction is what get's most people onto ebay/auction sites, and those deals are all over the place. Yet, lots of items up for grabs with no reserve, will end up going for reasonable prices if there are enough people after it, as bulldog2k mentioned. The lure of a deal is what gets most people coming back - I saw a Vlocity go for £40 on ebay.co.uk last week from a guy with ok feedback. Bargain!
On ebay.co.uk there are 1748 items currently listed. This time last year there was only about 500 items listed at any one time. It's been no gats allowed for over a year, yet it's still growing strong. (Granted a lot of the gear is crap)
On ebay.com there are over 32,500 paintball items listed at the moment! Plenty of people bidding on auction there even though they have PbNation and all their conartists at their disposal.
There's plenty of room for Paintball Kit auctions in the uk, people just need to know their alive and kicking for people to visit regularly, see what's up for grabs and bid. The auctions can also take a lot of hassle out of the crap that goes on when dealing with a private trader on a forum. The only major downside I can see at the moment is that as the site is new, people beginning to sell on there will not have any feedback, deterring people from bidding.
My 2 cents.
