the only way any of these site will work is if you shut down this forums classifieds ..I personally think that P8nt was the death of marker mart ,,,who can be botherd with auctions when you can just buy straight away from here .

I completely dissaggree that it would only work if you shut down the classifieds. P8nt was the death of the original markermart...probably...but not for any reason other than nobody had a clue marker mart even existed, or once they did, never bothered to visit it. You can't auction off goods if no one is watching to bid on them. But the whole auction theory has been tried and tested very successfully around the globe. And now that ebay.co.uk won't allow gats I think it's a great idea. People just have to know the site is alive and active then people will visit regularly like they would their current favourite classified forum or ebay.

The lure of nabbing a good deal at an auction is what get's most people onto ebay/auction sites, and those deals are all over the place. Yet, lots of items up for grabs with no reserve, will end up going for reasonable prices if there are enough people after it, as bulldog2k mentioned. The lure of a deal is what gets most people coming back - I saw a Vlocity go for £40 on ebay.co.uk last week from a guy with ok feedback. Bargain!

On ebay.co.uk there are 1748 items currently listed. This time last year there was only about 500 items listed at any one time. It's been no gats allowed for over a year, yet it's still growing strong. (Granted a lot of the gear is crap)

On ebay.com there are over 32,500 paintball items listed at the moment! Plenty of people bidding on auction there even though they have PbNation and all their conartists at their disposal.

There's plenty of room for Paintball Kit auctions in the uk, people just need to know their alive and kicking for people to visit regularly, see what's up for grabs and bid. The auctions can also take a lot of hassle out of the crap that goes on when dealing with a private trader on a forum. The only major downside I can see at the moment is that as the site is new, people beginning to sell on there will not have any feedback, deterring people from bidding.

My 2 cents.

Im not saying it's a bad idea.... but ..people were aware of marker mart and nobody used it, I spoke to one of the guys that started marker mart at a walk-on.. who was advertising it ,I seem to remember them puting an ad on Ebay and there was stuff on this forum, plus theres at least three people on this thread alone that were aware of Marker mart ..did you use it ?...I didnt ..and I dont see what's different about this one ..also there are other sites in the making at the mo that are trying to do exactly the same thing .I think people will just default back to this forum and very few will use it ..feel free to quote me and rub my nose in it this time next year ;)

only time will tell but i reckon im right

people come into the shop all the time wanting to trade their old gun for a new one. we can't do it. there are all sorts of reasons why not.

we can't take someone's old gun and sell it to someone else. it is just something we don't do.

we used to recommend that people sell it on ebay - then come back to us with the cash and buy a new gun. but then ebay banned guns.

the paintball kit auction site means i can now send people there to sell their old gun - before coming back to me with the cash for their new one. but then there's the risk that they'll find a new gun on the paintball kit auction site and buy that instead. so that's why i list on there too. so i reduce the risk of losing a sale by pointing my customers in the direction of a competitive sales channel.

it's a delicate balance.

it really does rely on people using the site though or no one will post items for sale, no one will buy items, and there won't be any point.

Visit site
right how to bid

first you need to register, then you serch for a nice new shiney thingey and if your loged in half way down they will be a little box with some coins in, GBP a empty box to place the amount and a clickey button that says place but. But if you can't find that then just scroll down to the bottom and theres a place to bid there

I think the difference with this one is that a) Its Paintball Kits own site b) also backed by Just paintball

Think it may do okay simply down to the above - i think the marker mart was a) never managed in my opinion and you couldnt verify if the items for sale were legit b) just had a feeling of being well dodgy as you/i/we didnt know who was behind it all.

The fact that Vinny is doing a great job with his mag and web site gives me a bit of confidence that this auction bit should work - however, personally, i do agree, and prefer to buy/sell on P8ntballer as i know a lot of the buyers/sellers and probably feel comfortable in that - and the feedback section should also help if i dont :)

My opinion - counts for jack i know but hey, there you go :);)

Go Ball Deep!!!
about a year ago.. i discovered marker mart.. but to be honest it was a bit poor.. and i came across a lot of page errors.. and never really went back..

these days its dead..

the Paintball kit auction site seems to be of a higher standard...
it is associated with JP as was stated.. (all the sales by gill also gave it away..)

its soo easy to deal on classifieds though, and the UK Paintball scene isnt exactly huge.. i cant see it becoming big...
