August 20th - NPPL Rule Clarification:

Color Orange in Uniforms # 8-10-04
Rule 9.08 reads “Players’ uniforms may not contain orange or pink coloring, which are reserved as protected paint colorings".

The intent of the original rule was to include all equipment; however, the rule only stated uniform and the term “uniform” was not defined in the NPPL Rule Book.

The NPPL Rules Committee motioned to add the words “and equipment” to rule 9.08 to include all packs harness, pods, tubes, hats, padding, shoes and so on. After much debate, the rules committee decided to pass the rule with the following condition that orange markers would be allowed until 1-01-05 .

The rule 9.08 now reads “Players’ uniforms and equipment may not contain orange or pink coloring, which are reserved as protected paint colorings. (Exception orange markers will not be enforced under this rule until 1-01-05 ) ”

This rule change was passed on 8-18-04 . The rule will go into effect immediately and be enforced in the upcoming NPPL Las Vegas event.

i'm still not sure why we have Pink as a 'protected paint color' seeing as promoters are generally trying to stop people from using Pink paint due to staining...

still i'm sure this was well thought thru, and will make everyone's paintballing lives more furfilling.

Yellow should be reserved as protected color. Very visible and widely used color for paint

Rumours that I have paid Colin to say this are completely unfounded;)

I'm proposing in my suggested rules revision for Millennium and NPPL (not that anyone will pay any attention to my suggestions) that only orange be kept as a protected paint coloring. If pink paint is banned then there is no reason pink should not be allowed. Besides why should the Fat Lady's Charms or Mr Pink be disadvantaged.

Concerning yellow, someone in Millennium made the mistake of ordering yellow and black striped ref's tops for the head field judges. The result is that we get shot all the more when Infamous or London Tigers are on the field. We get shot enough as it is without handing players an excuse for targeting us.

Maybe pink should continue to be disallowed also (in NPPL and should be disallowed along with orange in Millennium). This just copied from Smacktalk:

Case & point in this thread below.

Taken from a thread in pbnation:

"Well I assumed someone had already done this (but I guess not) and I also assumed I wouldn't hear back in any timely manner but I sent an email to Chuck anyways.

The email:
With your new rule banning orange and pink equipment, does pink now become a usable color for paint because it seems rather mindless to ban a color of clothing that is no longer an allowed paint color? Any clarification?

His response:
Our insurance company banned pink paintballs. We may in the future be using pink again as we may be using a different insurance company next year. This is why we will continue to protect this color.
Thanks for your question.

I received the response in exactly 5 hours. Impressive."

NPPL owes you fools no explanation, but they kindly give you one WHEN YOU TAKE THE TIME TO E-MAIL THEM.

Or maybe some paint company will come out with non-staining pink paint.
