On a side note, it's about time some of the bigger companies that are Dye and Planet who have solely made tourney markers looked at the other sides of paintball. So well done to them with the Etha EMC Kit and DAM! As for the DAM Price, it will be what it will be... So start saving :D

That UKPSF statment is about 15 years out of date. It still lables assisted fire mode as 'turbo'... which is what ramping was originally referred to back in the late 90's. The whole issue of ROF and paintball markers is a huge can of worms. How about R/T or assisted fire modes on mechanical guns - such as Tippmans or Mags, which can hit 15-20bps without any kind of electronic assistance.

If you had your paint chrono'd to 300fps, your First Strike would leave the barrel at around 420 fps. You would have to shoot paint at 220fps if you wanted your FS to be legal on the field. Same goes for anything else that shoots First Strike. FS is amazing though, I would just shoot that with a 4x Acog and ditch the loader. Totally different game then.

Looks like it, these really are strange days :) I don't think the difference between std and FS is quite that pronounced (120fps), but more in the region of 30-40fps, still raises some interesting questions around safety when chronoing.

I've been getting increasingly disillusioned with the style of gameplay these days, with everyone hosing a billion rounds at every bush and tree (I'm guilty of this too) and would certainly be tempted by something mag-fed if we had some mag-fed-only events in the UK.

Google 'Spyder Hammer 7'
Just what you need.

Oh, and here's your joke......

Far away in the tropical waters of the Coral Sea , two prawns were swimming around.
One called Justin and the other called Christian.
The prawns were constantly being harassed and threatened by sharks that inhabited the area.
Finally one day Justin said to Christian, 'I'm fed up with being a prawn; I wish I was a shark, and then I wouldn't have any worries about being eaten.'
A large mysterious cod appeared and said, 'Your wish is granted'
Lo and behold, Justin turned into a shark.
Horrified, Christian immediately swam away, afraid of being eaten by his old mate.
Time passed (as it does) and Justin found life as a shark boring and lonely.
All his old mates simply swam away whenever he came close to them.
Justin began to realise that his new menacing appearance was the cause of his sad plight.
While swimming alone one day he saw the mysterious cod again and he thought perhaps the mysterious fish could change him back into a prawn.
He approached the cod and begged to be changed back, and, lo and behold, he found himself turned back into a prawn.
With tears of joy in his tiny little eyes Justin swam back to his friends and bought them all a cocktail.
(The punch line does not involve a prawn cocktail - it's much worse). Looking around the gathering at the reef he realised he couldn't see his old pal.
'Where's Christian?' he asked.
'He's at home, still distraught that his best friend changed sides to the enemy & became a shark', came the reply.
Eager to put things right again and end the mutual pain and torture, he set off to Christian's abode.
As he opened the coral gate, memories came flooding back.
He banged on the door and shouted, 'It's me, Justin, your old friend, come out and see me again.'
Christian replied, 'No way man, you'll eat me. You're now a shark, the enemy, and I'll not be tricked into being your dinner.'
Justin cried back 'No, I'm not. That was the old me. I've changed.'.........
(You're going to love this................................)

'I've found Cod.

I'm a Prawn again Christian'

Sorry, I'm tired.

purely after seeing that sniper video i posted above i could definitely see some good use for this design. After all you could use regular paintballs for close quarters or suppressing several players but being able to switch to first strike would be very handy for longer range targets, especially those who aren't actively shooting back at you and are rather exposed.

but Liam . . how many shots did he attempt to get those 3 or 4 shots .. Im not saying fs is crap just to be an internet hater, its actually crap. Tried tested, many events, multiple markers.

World record attempts last year you were allowed to use first strike and people did, guess what got the longest, accurate shots . . you guessed it, not FS.

Also, I cant remember ever seeing anyone just standing still at an objective guarding sentry style. Try dial in on a moving target nipping between bunkers, im sure it'll happen but not the 100% of the time the vid tries to portray.

FS rounds are only for the hardcore scenario only guys who want to be snipers but wouldn't cut it in the military because they are scared to be left alone miles away from anyone in Afghanistan.

Max capacity on any marker for FS rounds? 20?

Ordinary gravity fed hopper gives you 180 ish balls, I'll take quantity any day of the week thanks.
