New Cocker Barrel

Ask around, All these people who have upgraded to barrel systems usually had 1-2 aftermarket barrel already, all you realy
need is a tight bore, a medium, and a large bore barrel 12-16in.
Paint varys in size from brand to brand, even batches of the same brand, so in my opinion a barrel system is a bit of over kill,
take a handfull of paint and compare diameters, usually 2-4 thousandths diff. so haveing the exact bore size for the 1 or 2 balls you take from the bag to test isn't going to work all the time.
Like I said ask around, some of these people will have barrels for sale and you should be able to pick and choose, get a medium first, then a tight and then a large. Dye ultralights, Boomsticks
Carter stainless, Armeson, J&J, Lapco, all good choises

Definately go for a barrel with different inserts to cater for different ball sizes.

There are several on the market at the moment. The 'Freak' system is the most popular and the one I use but Empire and 32 Degrees make them as well.
I recently bought the Empire set and it is friggin awesome. Different bore sizes along with different barrel lenghts as standard - defo means not having to buy lots more front ends when comparing to the Freak (which is still a very good buy I hasten to add so).

Good Luck with it

What about removing the barrel quickly? pretty tricky sometimes with a three way in the way. With the freak you can pop out the insert and stick a lever through, what about the evil?
Obviously with a one piece barrel you have something to twist.

I use freak on both my cocker and my shocker, but it can be impossible to remove the cocker back during a game for cleaning sometimes. At elsham, one player had to take his two piece barrel (not a freak) home and use a strap vice as we couldn't shift.

If moneys tight, just go for a range of decent second hand barrels, you've got one wide bore stock barrel, so a mid and a tight would be a good start. (as said by paintyrass).

The empire, however, looks absolutely superb, drooled over it at Elsham for quite a while.

Hey Jose,

Never had a problem taking the Empire apart especially during the day when had a chop. My biggest problem when I used it for the first time was not tightnening up the front section enough and couldn't understand why I was chopping them now and then.

I have to say that a lot of the guys who have seen it are very impressed as am I :D :D :D
