A preset generally weighs less too.
I have a nice centerflag preset, and Andy Piper is selling neato Evil ones, which are going for a resonable price.

An adjustable air system isn't going to make you a better player, but a few boxes of paint to practice with is going to get you moving in the right direction.

Remember don't buy max flo cause it's smart parts, and it's over priced.
He might need an adjustable if he switches markers though... getting an adjustable saves having to get a new system if he goes lo-pressure...

That's what the inline reg is for, surely? There are only 2 tank regs I'd trust to directly feed low-pressure markers - Max Flo or 03 Conquest. Anything else pretty much needs an inline reg to bring the pressure down the the correct level, and then the consistency of your setup depends far more on the quality of the inline than on the tank reg feeding it. Like Colin says, you'll get much the same results out of a 50 quid preset reg as a 250 quid adjustable, so I don't understand the point in paying that much for features you don't need.

Yes I'm not even sure what marker the poster is using but I always go for adjustables because of the versatility. As I usually use Angels (Speeds in the main) I'd rather hav an adjustable because they can be tricky to get 'right' with a preset as the recommended input is about 400psi

That's not to say it's necassary for everyone though, but if you're getting something like an impy with a gas through fore grip you'll want a decent adjustable air source to go with it that can run consistently at the lower pressures...
