Look around and communicate. Co-ordinate with people to make plays - give cover, move on bunkers. May not be the right play at the right time, but goodness knows how many punters I've seen just dig in and do nothing. Don't be like them and make stuff happen: it may not work but you'll have more fun and learn faster.

Oh, and play safe. :)

As ketch has done it to me, now its my turn. Taking a leaf from Ketch's book, never put your hand over the barrell to see if you can dis-lodge a slightly fat paintball through the feed when marshalling punters. There is a slight chance that the ball could make its way to the breech. Nice one Ketch

ooo, similarly, when walking past the practice ranges, walk BEHIND the players who are practising... not in front...

OWWWWW MY EAR!!!

(well, that's what I imagine he said... it was kinda muffled as he was trying to reach under his mask to stroke his sore ear...) :)

Straight up: Newbie2Newbie

The only tip I can give agrees with what Jones said on the 1st page, if you're startin off (as I still am) don't be afraid to get shot and try different styles of play. Staying still for ages will work only if you're unseen and you can wait it out for as long as is needed. But probably better to move around keeping yourself low and covered. Also try not to talk to other newbies to try and communicate nice plays, it doesnt work they just spend so much time gesturing at you they give your position away...
<cough> Weeners! <cough>

Just outta interest where do u play Jones? (i see u live in Croydon).
