MR1 Feednecks

Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone is having the same problem as me and if there is anythign i can do to fix it, on my Spyder MR1, on the angled feed port on the gun, there are 3 screws holding it to the gun chassis, you have to take it of to put a new rubber dent in, to stop double firing or multi feeding.

Hopefully you know where im talking about now.

The problem:

The screws in the feedneck have come out, the feed neck has only be removed once, by a qualified technician, so i now have 1 screw holding in the feed neck, which now wobbles when the hopper is put on, there aree supposed to be 3 screws here.

I think that the holes the screws go into have lost thier thread, hence why the screws have fallen out, and the spyder official screws for that area, jst go round and round in circles when they have been put in.

please help.

Sounds like the technician stripped out the threads.

There are several things you can do to fix it, which involve drilling a new thread (either moving up to bigger screws or fitting a helicoil).

Fortunately theres alot of meat on the Spyder MR, so there shouldnt be a problem.



If I had that problem, I would PM Tom Allen on these boards. He can fix anything like that.

Or for a permanant repair (as helicoil sucks and john you must think that?) you could invest in a time sert kit, but you are talking a few pennies there

Had a spark plug remove itself from the head of my old XR2i. Had the thread hellicoiled and never had a problem with it. I honestly thought the head was buggered until the jolly fat man from thread doctor came and sorted it.

They are only a semi permanant repair, a dude like thread doc would use them just because they are cheap, thus he can charge you more. Ask any mechanic and they would choose Time sert over helicoil any day.

I must admit they look better than hellicoils.

We used hellicoils on X-type chassis to secure sub frames. Never had a problem. May have been lucky.

While I wont pretend I even knew what a Time sert is before you mentioned it, I was thinking more low cost, farly reliable solitions, for a low cost fairly reliable gun

i like the idea of a helicoil, which is great for me as it is a quick fix, but i do intend to sell my marker in the near future, so a decent long lasting fix is what i would rather have, which sounds like this time sert kit, where can i get it done, or is it a do it yourself thing.

I will also PM the guy you were talking about and see what he says.

All this helicoil/time sert kit millarky sounds a bit ott, why not Just drill it out, rethread it and use a larger bolt. Easy peasy, You will only need a relatively cheap tap kit for use with ally aswell.
