Well Chuck he might be on a diet and the burger might just push his daily cal limit and a full fat coke blow the calorie count

So thats one reason he might have a Diet Coke

My opinion for Brit ball Chuck - YOUTH!!!!!!!;)

eh? this concept of diet confuses and infuriates us...

but neway chuck you raise a very very good point an i agree totally, its just i feel that the backing needs to be there first, espectially from a single established body in order to provide the drive for these individuals to succeed.

Why are you suggesting we have to wait for other people and bodies to provide the 'drive' as you call it, surely that drive should come from within ourselves as sportsmen.
I know it did with my guys on Nexus in the early days.
Chuck is bang on the money with his appraisal of UK ball and if we all wait for some unified body to ride in like some white knight to save our souls from paintball mediocrity then we got a long frikkin wait.

And even if it does come riding in (God knows who would be on this committee anyway because I ain’t seen many people over here who would have any real idea of what to do anyway) it won’t make a blind bit of difference unless we got the individuals and teams to work with who have the right mindset to training and improvement.

We need to generate more baseline players (encouraging punters and walk-ons to step up to tourney) and with that increase we should get an associated increase in serious players.

We need people over here to get serious about our sport instead of watching Emmerdale fackin Farm or indulging in the seemingly more attractive English pastime of armchair moaning.

okay.

i can definitely agree with that.

that was my first branch into paintball politics lol, not that greatly informed as i have verrrrrry little experience.

so do you think a balance of what chuck and yourself are saying, about the individual player (and their motivation), with an established governing body would be the overall greatest gain, or just the individual player attributes themselves?

Ok - had to run out on Tuesday to do some work and now is the first time i've been able to come back on the site... partly as i was at a conference where we heard from a guy who is in charge of an Aussie Rules Football team. The sorts of things they did over there to buy the Nations support and interest in Aussie Rules Football was immense.

They had franchises set up in regions of the country where people had never heard of Aussie Rules and ran those teams at $millions losses for the first few years as they wanted their sport to be the number one sport in Australia. Other things like introducing a draft system whereby the top team in the league gets the last choice player and the bottom team gets the two top players in an attempt to make the competition more exciting the following year and only using a handful of competition venues so the public could get a sense of a home ground even though 8 teams in Melbourne all might play 90% of the matches at the same venue seemed really simple but very effective.

I had intended to try and be more a part of this discussion but seeing as how one third of the people voting are still opting for the "Single Governing Body" i think we're all wasting our time.

I agree with the get off your arse and do something comments but as i've said earlier, what's the point if what you are doing is a waste of time. I don't know if i can read a field properly, i don't know if the way i run and shoot is the best possible way to do it, i don't know if the way i snap is the most effective. How the hell am i going to develop that if coaching is not available to grass roots players? The rest of my first post was a bit of day dreaming about the best scenario but ffs lets aim high here. Sitting in your garage snap shooting? It's good right here right now but how much better could things be?
